this has happened over the last month and she previuosly was a very active cat. her eyes are bright, she has been wormed recently, with no visible worms in the stools. she is about 10 years old, of no specific breed. she can jump onto tables with ease but seems to not walk very well and does not run at all. i cannot find any unusual lumps or bumps on her and her coat appears to be quite good. she does not cough or sneeze and there are no discharges. there is no blood in her stools.

You should be asking a vet! She could be serioulsy ill, it could be anything. Cancers and Leukemia can be terminal if not caught early, please hurry and take her to see a vet, the PDSA may be able to help if money is an issue.

She needs to be seen by a vet . It maybe arthritis or something even more serious .I had a cat that was acting unusual , losing weight ,and she had been poisoned . The vet thought that she either ate a mouse that had eaten rat poison or that she had gotten insecticide on her fur and licked it off . If you love her get her into the vet for another check up . She could also have an ear infection or ear mites . This will throw their balance off and needs to be treated with medication . Something is wrong .

Hiya, Your cat could have an over active thyroid, is she drinking alot of water. My cat was 10 yrs old when he developed this complaint, he had an op and he was fine he only died when he was 17yrs. I do believe tablets can help this condition now. Pay a visit to your vet he will do a blood test. Good Luck.

A cat that eats and drinks normally, but continues to lose weight ...is ill! You don't know how old he is, but he IS an older cat! Cats can develop "age-related" illnesses, such as problems with their thyroid, heart, kidneys and diabetes. Overweight cats are particularly susceptible to developing diabetes. For an "at home" test, put your face down in front of his, so you can SMELL his breath! If it smells like acetone (fingernail polish remover), the chances are great that he's developed diabetes. The smell of acetone is a "dead giveaway"! He needs to see the VET ASAP, for a blood workup. This will tell the vet (exactly) what's wrong with him! Please don't put this off. It could mean life or death, if not "caught" in time. 19 months ago, I smelled the "acetone breath" on my 12 yr old male cat. I didn't know what it meant, but he was acting strange, losing weight, and eating / drinking a lot, so I took him to his vet. They did the blood test, and it showed ..DIABETES. So, we put him on insulin injections (which I had to learn to give :-/ ) and now, 19 months later, cat has gained back his weight, and doing fine. So...........PLEASE get your "baby" to his vet ASAP. You won't regret it! Good luck............

Get you cat to the vets, if you cannot afford the bills if you are in the uk, go to PDSA and ask them for help, don't leave it any longer or your cat might be leaving you, the painful way. RSPCA also help people with money troubles, for the welfare of the cat...... get it to the vets

it could just be age, but she should have a vet visit anyway. usually cats live longer than 20 years now so It is a little early for it to be age. if she is an outdoor cat she could have eaten something poisines. or have rabies. if not had a shot.

weight loss is usually a sign of very bad health especially as she is eating well, recently i had the same problem with a neighbours cat, i took her to the vet who diagnosed her with a liver tumour, and i thought it was worms. please take your cat to the vet, this may be the same for her. i wish you both well.
