I came home from work tonight and found my cat dead in the middle of the living room. He seemed healthy, and was playing and eating as normal this morning. The only thing I noticed before was that a couple months ago he started getting a hacking cough. I thought it was just hairballs, since he had coughed those up before. After a few weeks it stopped. Then about 2 weeks ago it started again. He'd do it about twice a day, where it looked like he was trying to spit something out. He would wheeze and his tongue would be out, but then he'd stop, lick his chops and seemed fine again. I was thinking about taking him to the vet, now I feel awful that it's too late. Could it have been pneumonia? He didn't have any breathing problems. When I took him to the vet to be cremated tonight, they said pneumonia was unlikely. He was only 9, and spent his whole life indoors as an only cat. I wish I knew what it was that caused him to die early.

she had four kittens but one died this morning (the last one out). I put the dead kitten aside in the bed and when I came back an hour later it was gone. did she take it someplace or do they eat their dead? (she is on an old sheet under the house) it was less than 24 hours old. it seemed to be a long and messy birth but she cleaned herself up nicely and is up and running today. also, how long before they open their eyes? and, how many cute kitten pictures is too many? ;-)

This cat is a feral cat, that lived wild for 13 years and is now indoors. She has an infection and needs this antibiotic. I've tried to put the liquid into two meals now.. but she must sense it, cuz she won't touch it. I can't pick her up,, or handle her much. How can I tempt her to eat this? It's supposed to be tuna flavored, but it must be a little 'off'.

My cat is only 6-months old. It does not have green eyes yet but they look as if their turning green. My cat also has ovule shaped eyes and they are dark around they eye. my cat has stripes coming out from his eyes and cheeks, He also has the extra skin on his back legs. He used to be very mean to new people he has never seen before but now that he's fixed he seems like he has calmed down. And he makes a variety of sounds some that sound like he is chirping or something. So is my cat a egyptian mau, because he has all the characteristics of a mau and i seen pictures of them and some of them look exactly like my kitty.

I just got my new cat from the spca and was so happy until I got her home, my cat that I have now was not happy at all and my new cat was just spayed yesterday so I'm worried about them getting into a fight while I'm trying to get them used to each other. Which I have no idea on how to do. What I'm even more worried about is how can I tell if there is a problem with her surgery from being spayed is there anything I should be watching out for? Any answers would be great.

I know he is a Domestic Short hair, but what sort of breed? His tail closely resembles that of a raccoon.

I have always been a dog person and have never really liked cats. However, for the past 2 months a young cat (don't really know the age) has been coming around and has been very kind to me, my wife and my kids. We have all grown to care for the cat but don't really know what to do or where to start. The cat is not scared of us and comes to our home almost every day and purrs like crazy when we are around, or at least I think she is purring. Can someone help us and let us know what we should do to provide for this new family member.... never thought I'd call a cat a family member..... lol...

He is mostly black with white paws and half of his mouth and nose are white. He also has a few patches of white on his belly. He has longer hair but its not really long. On his body there are even a few strands of white hair among the millions of black. I can not find a longer hair cat that is black but I dont think he is a short-haired cat. What do you think?

I give him aspirin on advice from my vet, 1 time a week. Thanks for the responses I will let him live out his life I guess, only he knows when he will go. This is the first year he has ever gotten the guts to go outside and just sit there. Is it possible for me to cut his hair myself without freaking him out?

My short haired 12 week old kitten is a greyish black with and dark brown tabby. He has really cute little white mittens on his front paws, socks on his hind legs, and a small patch of white tuxedo marking on his chest. Will the white markings stay the same or will he loose them over time?

Okay, a while ago my cat was attacked my another cat. He since has been cared for but no vet since my family has been going through a rough patch and has had no money to take him. so far it looks like it is healing and such except the area is mostly bald because he has been licking it. Now it is almost completely healed and has a small skab and a small scar from the bite. What worries me is that now he is not licking it I think the hair is growing back. But the skin around the the scab/bite area is blue! I'm not sure if it was like that before! Is it possible for a cat to have bluish skin?! or is it just the hair growing back? I know that a cat can heal up a cut but can also get an infection under the skin so could it be that too?!

Please help me! I'm so worried! I don't want him to die!! We don't have any money! if he gets sick, we can't get him help! I can't stand the thought of losing him!!! Please, someone help me!!

I live in San Francisco and don't have my car with me. I'm planning on going to the East Bay this weekend, and I want to bring my cat with me. He's about 8 months old, and isn't used to going on trips at all. I plan on getting some kind of carrier for him, so he'll have somewhere to be, and not be bothered. But my main question is, is there a way to ensure that this trip (consisting of a 30 minute bus ride and hour long bart train ride) goes smoothly? Also, would it bother you if someone had a meowing cat on a train with you?

My female went into heat for the first time, I never owned a female until now. Was wondering is there a way to keep her quiet as not to bug the neighbours? I just don't know what to do cause she meows all day long and through the night.
