Okay, a while ago my cat was attacked my another cat. He since has been cared for but no vet since my family has been going through a rough patch and has had no money to take him. so far it looks like it is healing and such except the area is mostly bald because he has been licking it. Now it is almost completely healed and has a small skab and a small scar from the bite. What worries me is that now he is not licking it I think the hair is growing back. But the skin around the the scab/bite area is blue! I'm not sure if it was like that before! Is it possible for a cat to have bluish skin?! or is it just the hair growing back? I know that a cat can heal up a cut but can also get an infection under the skin so could it be that too?!

Please help me! I'm so worried! I don't want him to die!! We don't have any money! if he gets sick, we can't get him help! I can't stand the thought of losing him!!! Please, someone help me!!

P.S. Um, i can't really check the rest of his skin since he has so much and I really can't look past it. My cat is a tuxedo cat if that helps.

P.S.S. I know we should have had a savings account for our cat, but we had never thought anything like this would have happened. It has never before. We stopped putting him out so much after this happened. But we can't cancel our internet provider; i need it for school work. And things have been really bad. We lost our house this month. I'm moving out at the end of the week. It's the weather. My father works in landscaping and with everything cold and dead, we haven't any money for anything, including us and the cat. But that's besides the point. I just need some advice. Can this be an infection underneath the skin or can it just be hair growing back or it being a natural skin color?

Call a vet, it's free. http://www.hsus.org/pets/pet_care/what_you_can_do_if_you_are_having_trouble_affording_veterinary_care.html also has some tips on how to afford vet care.

The first thing to do, after discussing the situation with a vet, is to bring the cat inside. It's not responsible to leave a cat outside. Had your cat not been allowed out, this never would have happened. Cats allowed outside are MUCH more likely to have severe injuries and to die young. Bring him in and you'll increase his health and decrease vet bills. http://www.hsus.org/press_and_publications/humane_society_magazines_and_newsletters/all_animals/volume_4_issue_1_spring_2002/a_safe_cat_is_a_happy_cat_and_your_cat_is_only_safe_indoors.html

I know that you love your cat, but it's time to be realistic. Part of the responsibility of owning a pet is being able to afford vet care. I know, it seems to come at the worst times, but it has to be done. Cancel the cable tv, the Internet service, and the magazine subscriptions and start a savings account for the cat. What if this had been a broken leg? What if this wound develops an infection? Please, get your family to be a little more realistic on the care this cat needs, or find a home for him with someone who can keep him inside and offer proper vet care.

I wish you nothing but success with treating the cat.

i might call the emergency vet sanatorium and tell them what's happening. possibly they are in a position to offer you some theory how severe that's. It does not sound solid. Blue is under no circumstances a robust coloration for healthy pores and skin!

It can be normal, look at the rest of the cats skin under its hair. Sometimes they have patches of darkly pigmented skin. This is most common in calico cats. Good luck!

it may be some bruising. Also he may have pigmented skin. To check the rest of his skin just part the fur with your fingers.
