How many cans(regular sized cans, not fancy feast) of cat food should a senior aged cat be fed per day? How much should a cat weigh?

My cat stays under the bed all day like a troll. We have had her since she was 5 wks old (I know - too young to be away from mom - besides the point.)
Anyway - she stays under the bed all day, then comes out to eat & use her litter box. When my husband or myself enter the room - she looks at us like we are either cat killers or cat serial rapists & runs from the room.
For the record - we have never abused her - let alone ever killed or raped a cat.
Is she just a psycho?

I adopted a 6 month old female calico kitten almost 2 weeks ago! She is up to date on her shots (one distemper due next month to finish the three she needed to receive) she has been spayed, I took her to the vet twice since I got her! On the first visit I found out she had ringworm on her ear (treating it as we speak and it is improving greatly) and on the second visit I was concerned because she had been sneezing excessively (clear sneezes no discharge... vet wasnt concerned)! Well she passed on the sneezing spurt to my 5 year old cat (she still occassionally sneezes)... the kitten now has green, thick, excessive, eye boogers (had to use a warm wash cloth to get it off... she was squinting)! Is this producing into an actual virus now? My poor baby and her vet trips! Im going to call the vet again today and we are taking the 5 year old in Friday! She was a barn Kitten and out in the cold alot! Does this eye discharge mean she has a cold? What to do?

She is only a young cat, aged 4, and has no other problems. She is a rescue cat from the RSPCA and we've only had her for a week.

Has been on eye drops since we got her and as yet we have not noticed any improvement. Her sight seems fine and she responds well, but her eye is very cloudy. She has to have drops for another week before taking her back to the vet, but as yet, everything seems the same.

The drops cause her a lot of distress and she has taken to hiding most of the time. I know I have to give her the drops for her to get better, but at the same time, I don't want to keep causing her stress if the drops aren't actually helping.

Any ideas on what it can be?

Any ideas on how to give her the drops without causing so much stress?

Any ideas on what I can do to stop her being so scared?

All help very much appreciated!

my cat is almost a year old, but has horrible allergies in the summer. He was checked by a vet twice and i was told he just has allergies and just to watch what cleaners, etc i use in the house. Even when im not cleaning he's stuffy and sneezing with watery eyes (clear discharge). Is there anything out there i can give him that will help his allergies or eyes?

I have 2 cats,coco(female),casper(male)... about same age 1hlf yrs, coco ive had since she was a kitten and brought casper in as a stray 3/4 months ago had them both done at the vets so no kittens and spraying. Coco just hates casper she is really mean and screams if he comes one bit close to her shes gone really nasty and growls all the time and runs away when she hears him he meows at her being nice, but he is the friendlier cat out of the two she is a bit more wild and is only nice when she wants to be. The growling hissing has been going on ever since we brought him into the house ive tried everything, putting them in the same room and spraying her with water when shes bad doesnt work ive tried tapping her on her nose at other times and she gets worse and even when shes outside she growls and runs off she sits upstairs all day now and doesnt come down unless shes feeling brave i have give up now and ran out of ideas what to do does any1 have any different suggestions?ty 4 the help

I heard once that a dog can understand up to 50 words / commands, and we all know that cats are smarter than dogs (LOL) so they must know much more!

My kitty likes to lay in my oil heater. Not next to it, IN it. Right between the slats. She does this even when it's too hot for me to touch and before long, she's too hot to touch too.

I know that hair singes fairly easily, and she has an awful lot of it. Any chance that she may suddenly burst into flame?

I've had my cat since she was a kitten. I rescued her she was abused. She is my everything, she brings me so much joy and happiness. I have been living on my own for the past 3 years (I got here right when I moved out) and now due to financial cirumstances I am moving back home with my parents. They told me I can't have my cat because they have brand new carpet, brand new expensive leather furniture..etc etc they have a nice house and have never had a cat before. My cat isn't spayed and she has her claws and I have been SOOOO upset you would think my cat is a 3 yr old human baby! I offered the thought to my Dad that I'd get her spayed and declawed (not happy about that but I want to keep her!) and he said he'd have to talk 2 my mom about it. I am so upset I feel like I can throwup I have been balling my eyes out for days. please help I can't get rid of my baby and I can't afford to live on my own. please help me convince my parents please help me please I am so devistated. my cat is SO skiddish and is ONLY used to me she's my shadow I couldn't bear giving her to ANYONE! :*(

So, should I?

2007-02-27 18:47:49 · 20 answers · asked by Anonymous

I have no idea how old she is... I am at least her third owner. She is very loving, and I feed her once a day. Almost everytime she eats, she throws up. (The food is unusally not even digested yet) I used to feed her Meow Mix, then switched to Purina One for sensitive systems... this helped a little bit. I am currently trying Purina One hairball control but it doesn't seem to be working. I only feed her dry food b/c I have given her canned food and she throws that up too... more often than the dry food. My major problem is, she is old, and I really can't afford a vet bill. I don't know what to do anymore. I don't think I have the heart to put her down, but at the same time I can't imagine that all this throwing up is good for her. Can someone help me make the best decision for my cat?

My cat is on prednisone for asthma. He's been taking more than usual lately. Tonight I got home and he is so weird--running around, crying constantly. He finally stopped crying, but now he's just laying there. The only time he groomed was when he was aroused--and he's neutered. Are behavioral changes normal with prednisone?

About 6 weeks ago the vet told us that our cat, Senor, has FUS. After the blockage was removed and a cathiter put in, he was put on antibiotics and a special, life-long diet. Now the symtoms are back and he has to go back to the vet this afternoon. He was so miserable the first time around and I hate to see him in pain like this. My question is: Has anyone out there had the same reoccuring problem in their cat and did you find a way to prevent it from coming back?

My cat was just diagnoised with feline aids. How long do you think he will live? He's a normal weight, eats and uses the litter box normaly. He did hurt his paw in a fight recently and limps for now. Do you think that will have an effect on the disease?
