He may be about to sick up a big furball, or, worse, a ball of worms - I would have an old towel ready if I were you.

my kitten did this last week during my birthday dinner party on a saturday night so no vet available. Turns out she had been trying to eat some pink roses and purple hyacinths. She didnt learn tho and went back for more. Very bizzare noises were made! If she is distrssed as well as vomiting though get him to a vet asap!

House cats have been referred to as having "one foot in the wild." Wild animals, as a survival method, have to hide signs of disease or weakness. Domestic cats are also very good at this, which means that you have to be that much more observant of your feline friend's behavior at all times, just as you seem to be.
Please, take your cat to the vet, as the noise, belching, and the distressed demeanor all could be signs of an impending problem - follow your instincts.

Bringing up hairballs sounds like being sick. If he hasn't managed to bring one up in an hour or so , get the vets advice. They would rather you took your cat to the vet and it turned out to be a trivial reason rather than you didn't take it and it was serious.
Check in his mouth if he will let you incase he has something stuck.
Mine had been fighting and had a tooth hanging half off and was very yowly ,kept trying to clear his mouth.

i agree with the answer just above....
your kitty may have a hairball, and is probably trying to get it out... you could feed it some greens if it will eat, cuz it really soothes the stomach and helps the hairball come out... or else its food poisoning, try cutting abck on all foods except for one...

He probably has a hairball he's having trouble getting out. They sell this paste stuff you add to food to help with hairballs, I suggest getting him some of that and make sure he has plenty of water. I'm sure he'll get it out on his own soon.
