No. It is fairly easy to take the tail off if they are a day or two old but anytime it is done it needs to be stitched up properly otherwise they will bleed severely. Let a vet do it. If the pup is over seven days old it will require surgery to remove.

if you have to ask I would say no if the pups are more than 7 days old then no, you have to know were the tail is to be cut as most breeds call for a certain amount of tail bones to remain. Most breeders have the tails done at a vet so they can apply as few stitches which heals better looking. If you have mix breed pups keep the tails, mix breed dogs with docked tails look lame. If you have cane corso, Weim, or Neo Mastiff, you need to leave it to a vet since a third of the tail must remain. Plus if you do it yourself you could fracture a tail bone, I recently saw some rubberband docking that didn't work all the way because the pups were more than a day old it was pretty gross, but all the pups lived and found good homes.

Your puppy was born with a tail for a reason
just like you were born with your "parts" for a reason...
How would you like to have something CUT OFF
Leave your puppy alone but if you must crop the tail then at least use one of your heads and GO TO THE VET!!!!!!!!!

Why would you want to cut your puppy's tails? It would be like me cutting off one of your fingers! If you insist of having it done, you should have it performed by a vet. The only reason for cutting off dogs tails (or altering their ears) is because we think it looks better. I am sure if your dog was able to speak he would think that he looks fine the way he is!

My neighbour did cut the tail of 7 newborn Cockers, they did OK even though he did not stitch.
But I think it is risky. If your puppets are worth anything you add the vet bill to their price, if they are cheap, let them have their tail.

No. That could go badly wrong, and might lead to them not being able to move properly or being unable to control their bladder/colon. Remember, the tail is part of the spine.
Have a professional do it - they can also tell you if it's even legal where you live.

you are nuts. you should give your puppy away. I'll adopt it. but for now. do not buy any scissors. do not cut anything on your dog. Go to a expert that will be cheaper than taking it to the vet for an emergency

There's a lot of good information provided. Please heed the advice that only experienced persons perform it themselves, and that you have a veterinarian show you how to do it yourself.
