My cat has very long very fine fur and grooms himself constantly. He gets really nasty hairballs, very dense, 3/4" thick by up to three or four inches long - disgusting!
He's on hairball food both wet and dry, gets "hairball treats" once a day when he's having a problem about once a week when he's not, and slicker combed every day during shedding and randomly at other times.
All of the above keeps the hairballs smaller and less frequent, but he still gets them. Any suggestions on things I'm not doing already?
I also worry that he may really choke on one of these things one day - if I am present, what can I do to help him?

I know that cats clean themselves (cats are very low maintenence compared to dogs) but every few months I give my cats a bath. It is always an adventure to say the least. I was wondering if anyone had any funny tales to tell about the time they gave their cat a bath

She's an old girl about 13 she's a rescue cat so we don't know too much about her. At night she tends to cough alot and sometimes appears to retch as though she's going to be sick although nothing comes up.

A few months back she started vomiting alot but nothing was coming up? It just looked like bile i took her to the vets they took blood for some tests and she was clear of any serious illness. Since then she hasn't vomited like before but as i explained coughs and retches. On a few occasions i have found around the house what look like hair balls?

Could she be coughing because of hairballs and if so how can i prevent the build up?
I comb her and use a product called Kitty malt but the coughing never stops?

Also, can pet odor make you sick or contain harmful particles in the air? We are not allergic.

I have all kinds of scratch and bite marks on my hand because my kitten keeps clawing me and biting me. Some of them really hurt. He can be very lovey and cuddley and then 10 minutes later he's tearing my hands apart and when I correct him he bites harder and pins his ears back. What's up with my cat?

She seeks it out and licks it, to the exclusion of everything else. I have to physically pick her up and remove her from the tape; usually she is a very obedient cat and would stop what she was doing if I raised my voice. We've just moved and haven't unpacked, so there are a lot of boxes and a lot of packaging tape around. Help!

we have this kitten that sleeps in our bedroom. We found him as a wild kitten, the taming process has gone much better since we moved him into our bedroom. We tried briefly to introduce him to rooms other than the bedroom, but he gets scared and retreats to the bedroom. So we cannot lock him out of our bedroom while we are sleeping, since it would scare him a lot and mess up his taming process.

But in the middle of the night he gets all crazy hyper and wants to bite things. Normally, I am happy to play with him, but he is biting and scratching my hand. If I tuck my hands under me, he goes after my arm. How can I stop this? I can't sleep when this is going on.

My husband said bop him on the nose w/ your finger when he does it, but any attempts at bopping are interpreted as playing. Mom said do not ever play with him w/ hands, b/c he should learn hands are not toys, but I think it is bonding to play w/ him. He does not bite hard. He just does not know when play time is over.

where they may have irrerversible organ damage or even death? I only ask because my cat wasn't feeling very good one morning but she was still responsive and I thought maybe she was just tired and had a bit of a bug and thought I would wait to come hoime after work and book an appointment with my vet for the followoing day if she still didn't seem right. When I got home however, she was hiding in the basement, vomit was present in three or four spots, her litter box was filled with 2 or 3 very runny poos and she was just depressed looking and very lethargic. I started to cry and called my vet, but of course they couldn't take her as they were by appointment so I rushed her to ER. She is doing great now and feeling much better and is on meds. This was due to her running wild in the alleys for four days (I cried the whole time looking for her!) and most likely getting an infection from eating garbage. I am seriously considering turning her into an indoor cat :)

Cats must have gone under it, tree soaked it up, now its beautifully decorated, but the urine odor started coming out of the sap. The branches, themselves, smell like pine, but the sap smells like cat urine. HELP! She doesn't want to get rid of it and get a new tree at this time.

3 different young cats, just a few months old, have died in the same apartment. 1 has lived. The 3 different ones were not there at the same time, after first died, they got 2nd, then 3rd after 2nd died. At any given time, there were only 2 cats living in the home. The symptoms weren't really exactly alike for all 3 cats, but just that all got sick....first one's head kept swelling, was treated for allergies, then just died. Second one had blood clot on eye, was treated first for some kind of platelet disorder, then vet decided she had consumed rat poison before she was adopted and treated for that, she did get better to an extent, then died. 3rd hit her head on wall while playing with other housecat, acted like she felt bad first day, then got better for a few days, then just died. My daughter, who's the cat owner, and it is her apartment, seems to have an awful lot of headaches and nausea....I'm afraid there is some kind of connection. Any help out there?

When my cat plays, he likes to bite your hands. He's not mean but has this habit. Someone told me if they break skin you have to seek medical attention. Is this true?

Why did my blind, 16-year-old calico cat begin peeing and s******g on the floor six months ago? She has no urinary tract infection, did not do this the first two years she was blind, and uses the litter box in the daytime. She only does this at night and does it near the same place. I've tried everything the vet suggested and nothing helps. Any ideas?
