Yes. Animals are different and their personality usually changes in length of time. You can try to sterilize her, it often helps.

I have heard that female cats tend to be much more aggressive than male cats. The question is, is she being aggressive towards you or other animals? My fiance has an older female cat that LOVES people but is aggressive towards the other cats in the house. If your cat has not been spayed, have her spayed. Spaying causes the urge to defend ones territory and become top cat to decrease. It is possible this is just your cat's personality. My advice is to have her spayed if she is not already. If this does not help, work with her to calm her down. If there are other cats in the house, she may just be assuming top cat status.

My cat is 17 or 18 years old now, and has only gotten more friendly. She used to be very free-spirited, was almost never around except to eat, didn't like to be petted for very long, etc. But now she's almost never far from the house, and will come up to anyone - even strangers - for petting. She even eats out of our hands now! Unheard of! :P

So I'd say it just depends on the cat. Spaying/neutering may help, but probably isn't necessary. My cat was spayed early on in her life, so I have no idea if that changed her disposition by much.

I think it is just it's personality.
My wife and I have two cats. One is laid back and friendly. And the other simply accepts that it can get food from us. It also visits our neighbours for some extra dinner and has been seen streets away. We have had both cats for over 8 years. And both males have been desexed.
Our wandering cat also has a VERY short fuse. He will allow us to pat him, but then instead of wagging his tail when he is annoyed (opposite of a dog) he simply turns around and scratches or bites. He broke our neighbours skin at one point.
We simply give him the space he needs. If he were a dog and somewhat controllable it would be different.
Your cat may calm down and opt to sleep as it gets even older. We have given over half my side of our wardrobe as a sleeping space for our cats. We figure they only have around another 8 years to live...might aswell make them happy ones for them.

Take her to the vet. This happened with one of my cats. I thought she was just getting grumpy in her old age but it turned out she had hodgkinson's dieseas. It could be that your cat is suffering some discomfort which is making her moody.

You may want to take the cat to the vet. Agression could be a sign that she's ill or in pain.
