I know that cats clean themselves (cats are very low maintenence compared to dogs) but every few months I give my cats a bath. It is always an adventure to say the least. I was wondering if anyone had any funny tales to tell about the time they gave their cat a bath

Bathing a cat is natural and I had lots of practice working in a grooming shop bathing both cats and dogs before I owned my own, I started bathing my 5 month old kitten when he was 4 weeks (he was a rescue kitty) He will sit in the bath tub and wait for water to come down so he can drink it. but bathing he still is not all that fond of. The first time I let my daughter try she left the door open and we had a wet soapy kitty running around the house trying to get away from everyone. Now it is much more relaxed for him, he got out of the house last week during a rain storm and got all muddy, I also find bathing him hleps keep his dander and hair loose making it easier to comb out, I use a flea comb to get all that dead hair out.

Well my cat ended up with fleas, how i don't know she has never been outside. I guess we brought them in with us. Anyways, i had to give her a bath about four times one week as they would not go away along with the vacuuming...so she was starting to get used to it but hated every minute of it...i was washing and she looked up at me with those big gray eyes (i was leaned over the bathtub) ...she reached up and put her head right on my cheek and just stayed there as if saying please mom get me outta here...please...it was so sweet...i hate giving her a bath, but when it must be done it must...i have to close the door to the bathroom each time or i will have a wet cat running through the house and then under my bed. Anyways it was a cute sweet time.

Oh, the memories. Not to mention the fact that she is getting pretty ripe again...

So it took two of us, one to hold and one to wash. By the time we were done we had scratches all over us. My friend had scratches on her neck because Maggie climbed up and over her shoulder to try and get away. We were both soaking wet and scratched to h*ll.

When we were finally done we left the mess, opened a bottle of wine and sat back laughing at the cat who was running through the house shaking her paws and legs.

Combing her that same day was completely out of the question.

The only reason, by the way, I give my cat baths is because she is long haired, she hunts, kills and eats things which makes her stool stink somethin' aweful. Because of her long hair there are generally some remnants left on her rear. Gross I know, but she's got to be cleaned...

The only time I've ever given my cat a bath was when I was 5. My family had all left the house to go do something, and I was left to my own devises. As soon as I saw all was clear, I grabbed a bar of soap and a wet washcloth and ran out back, found my cat Muffin, and proceeded to 'wash' him. Any other cat would have scratched me, but good ol' Muffin just sat there looking miserable. To this day, I don't know what made me think he needed a bath, but he got one.

I don't have to give my cat spot a bath.He is weird he climbs into the hot bubble bath with me and sit on my stomach and cleans himself. If I take a shower instead of a bath when I open the shower door he walks into the shower sits down and stares at the shower head like he expects something to happen.

Lol. Cats don't fancy water, heck, some do and some tolerate it.

My Jaws (year old baby) hates it and she is incapable of cleaning herself due to a busted jaw (It's a loooong story) and twice a week (pending on the weather, of course, she's little) she gets a bath. Funniest thing was, last bath she tried to bite me, but of course that only resulted in her head rubbing against my forearm where her one tooth poked and rubbed.

Ha, when my little guy was about 8 months old we had to lock him out of the bathroom (the thief would steal my hair clips). One night my roommate got up to go to the bathroom and I heard my cat come running up the stairs. I heard her start laughing right after the door opened, so I went out to see. My cat had done a flying leap into the room and landed right in the toilet!
