I would suggest that you take your cat to the vet if, after you gradually change his food to a different brand, he continues vomiting. This could be a result of Feline IBS, parasites, or possibly a serious stomach related disorder. It's important to remember that cats' digestive tracts are extremely sensitive. I own a cat that suffers from IBS, and the best thing I have found (including vet-recommended foods) is Meow Mix indoor formula. If you want to contine feeding your cat canned food, you might try mixing it with dry kibble food to help him digest it better, however I suggest just switching to dry food only. I hope this helps you and your kitty.

I've had cats all my life and currently have 5, I have only fed them dry cat food and have never had any problems or illnesses, their pooh smells better, they don't get dental problems (which is common in cats who have tinned food) and you can buy good quality dried food for a fraction of the price of tinned when you buy it in bulk. Sorry, don't know why your cat is vomiting though, probably the richness or the change in brand.

Sounds like he has a sensitive stomach, maybe inflammatory bowel disease. Inflammatory bowel causes diarrhea in most species, but in cats it causes vomiting. Usually the vomit is whole undigested food. Feed him things that he keeps down well and don't change his food all the time, animals with sensitive stomachs do best when kept on a single food. Variety can trigger symptoms for them.

I use Sentry Hairball Relief gel (just a small bit on my finger put on a cat's paw) and they LOVE licking it off!!! This has stopped my one, short-haired cat from coughing up hairballs. But, my other fluffy guy, has a more severe problem with hairballs, and I also give him daily Greenies hairball treats in addition to the gel. My fluffy guy, unfortunately, had to have surgery and the vet said that even under sedation, he had a difficult time with his professional fur remover that he could hardly get through my Coco's (fluffy) fur! He has multiple layers and long. Spring is the worst time for sheading for ALL furry animals! PLUS, a FLEA COMB ...yes, a flea comb is the best fur removal so-called brush. I happened upon it when I took my short-haired female in for a check, and the vet was using a flea removal comb on her fur. My female cat LOVES when I comb her! In the Spring, I cut back Coco's fur to the point so I "hope" to use the comb to get loose fur. It removes fur 1000 times better than any fur brush!!! And, he LOVES the comb, too ... when I don't snag a fur knot, that is. I back off then. I have not affiliation with the product manufacturers and highly recommend RUNNING OUT TO GET A FLEA COMB FOR YOUR CAT "BRUSHING" NEEDS!!!!

Most cats have sensitive tummys. If he pukes up the food....just get him the food that stays down. Can't are not like dogs who can eat anything and everything. My cats only eat one brand and that's what I get them.

Kaye,
Cats are very finicky eaters and some foods just naturally upset their stomach. It's nothing to worry about, just don't give the cat that kind of food.

cats vomit for various reasons
1) to get rid of hair swallowed through washing (ie hairball)
2) if its close to worming time
3)if it gobbles food down too greedily sometimes it can come back up!!
