Why are my cats nice to each other when I am not around or they think I am not watching?

But when you are around them they try to ignore each other?

Tonight at 2am is the first time I've seen my older cat lick and clean the younger one. (not her offspring)

Kids are the complete opposite it seems. They act like they DO get along when you are around and when you leave the room they kick their sibling.

What gives?

How do you start taking care of it?

This one is a tonkinese, persian mix, kitten. About 2-3 months old, maybe. Really weak, vet opens Monday, which is tomorrow. It's been sneezing, poor thing, and has a runny nose. Slept all day today. Should it be starting eating already? Haven't seen it pee or poop; is this a problem. Had it for two days.

...just checked a website; probably has conjunctivitis. Can't bring to vet - how can we treat it at home,or at least delay effects?

We got her in May and my older cat tolerates her, but doesn't exactly LOVE her. I always try to pet and cuddle with the younger cat, but when I do she runs to my older cat and cuddles up with her. Why? My older cat isn't even that nice to her! We got the baby when she was VERY little, so I'm wondering if that's why. It's just upsetting because I want my younger cat to be close to me and my bf, but she'd much rather spend time with the adult cat. My older cat would much rather spend time with me or my bf...unlike the other cat. I'm glad they somewhat get along, but is there anything we can do to get her to be more sociable with us?

I had that issue! I had close to 20, adopted 7, and am trying to find homes for the rest! I set up a website dedicated to getting the rest into homes with a StreetCatCam with live streaming video of the kitties needing homes 24 hours a day and it also has little video clips of the kitties. It's called http://www.kittiesinthehood.com
Yahoo shut it down last week, apparently because people complained about my posts here.and I lost every email I ever got related to the site and I was devestated cause I lost all the details for all the potential adopters. I'm not selling the cats & not even selling advertising. I spent 3 days and just got it up & running again. I'm paying for the desexing etc myself and took a few months off work for the project and can't afford any more, so I'm not happy that it was shut down?? Are you? Can you help me? The kitties are in Australia, but I'm moving overseas really soon. Please don't post about diseases, they've all been to the vet

Sometimes my kitty just runs all around my bedroom, like really fast. I think she's scared of seeing her reflection. I just got her out of the pound today because there was a feline distemper outbreak. What's wrong with my cat?

everytime my kitten bites me too hard, especially when she thinks i want to play, but im really just turning the pages of my book or just combing thorugh my hair or just flipping the remote, she jumps on my hand and bites terribly hard. i tried pushing my finger down on her tongue, but this seems to irritate her more and then she btes down on my hand even harder and more violently. so, everytime she bties me hard now, i clap my hands and shout in her face, she backs down and looks scared. then she cools for about.. ten seconds. and sometimes repeats biting my hand again. if she does it again, i clap my hands and shout and put her in my room for a TIME OUT. after about ten minnutes or fifteen, i let her out, but totally ignore her for about an hour or so. am i doing the right thing to stop her from biting?? if so, why does it seem not to be working? she does it almost everyday. and i get so tired of putting her away anf bringing her out. i am sometimes afraid of sleeping with her!

I have two kittens, let's call them Little and Big. Both have been pronounced "slightly chubby" by the vet. I've put them on a twice-a-day feeding schedule and have been giving them less food, per the vet's recommendation. They eat Science Diet Kitten dry and Wellness Kitten wet. My problem is that Little always eats more food and in fact eats Big's food. This morning, for example, I put out two cans of Wellness wet in separate dishes. Big, who eats less in a setting, ate 1/3 and went away. Little proceeded to eat her entire bowl and then cleaned off Big's portion. I'm not sure how I can get them each to eat the appropriate amount of food, even if I separate their food stations and leave food out for a set amount of time. I'm worried that if I clear the bowls after a certain amount of time, Big won't end up eating enough. Help!

Something is weird about my cat now. His stomache got exceptionally big this past 2 months, and I suspect it is overfeeding. Well, I cut down his foot from twice a day, but it is still rather large. Also, he has stopped playing and running around like he used too. Last night I looked him in the eye and he looked rather teary eyed. I am beginning to suspect cancer in his stomache or something, I'm not sure till I can take him to the vet.

He is about 1 1/2 years old.

I really want a cat but my room-mate doesn't want to have to pay for one. does anyone know where i can get a free one. This question may sound stupid because you are probably wondering how i could pay for it if my room mate doesn't. Well, she just doesn't want to pay hundreds of dollars for one. because she hasn't gotton her last paycheck yet

did the roll of paper towels do to my cat? The roll was sitting on the floor minding it's own business last I knew.

Then I walk into my room, and see it strewn from wall to wall. Were the pictures of the kitties taunting mine? Is that why he tore it up? Were the sayings on the roll disturbing him? The papers towels have written "here, kitty kitty kitty".

My cat is litter box trained and she is neutered and I have never had any problems of her doing anything outside the litter box region - until now. I was cleaning the litter box - and as all you cat owners know that is the best time for our cats to decide that they need to use it...and well mine did...and her entire body except her butt was inside the litter box..and well she peed outside...
am i to think this is a one time occurance? or should i search my apartment for pee?
