I've only had my cat for a year but it has grown into my family it was my sons favorite. He went to bed everynite with her. She was expecting her first litter any day now. Yesterday I couldn't find her inside so I went outside (she stays inside) I found her hiding and when I got her out she was bleeding out her neck. The vet said a large dog had attacked her she was in shock her babies died and later her being partly brain dead I put her to sleep. I'm so sad and my son who is 3 doesn't understand why is cat is coming home, please help with advice.

I once saw a cat on the playground along with two little girls who didn't own it. When one of the girls were squatting on the playground, the cat came to her and rubbed itself against her butt. The girl freaked out to the reaction and the cat backed off. Is it kind of wierd for a cat to do that or it's normal?

I have heard of some cats doing that. Every time I throw her ball she shoots after it but how do I get her to bring it back? Can you really do that? If you can is there a web site that you know?

Does anyone know the age which kittens have to be before they need their jabs? Also at what age should male cats go to the vets for spaying?

I have a kitten that is about 12 to 14 weeks old. I understand that kittens have LOADS of energy and need to release that somehow. However, my little Boxer runs as if he's hallucinating. He shoots in between the blinds jumps up the wall, runs into things. He'll sit still and then runs as fast as he can, and just repeats the cycle. My mother has 2 cats back home. When they were kittens, they weren't nearly as hyper as my little one. I know that he needs to release his energy, but is there any way I can get him to slow down just a little bit?
I've heard tips like feeding a cat soft food that contains turkey b/c it will make them sleep. I've also heard that once they're neutered, they're calmer and less aggressive. etc etc. What should I do?

I have a 7 month old Kitten. He usually uses the litter box but I have been having problems with him lately. It seems that he will go in the box for the first day or so after I empty it but won't after that. Is he just picky? It is starting to be really expensive to have to buy that much litter to change the box every 2 days. Has anyone ever hear of this?

I recently moved into a new house. It had been freshly painted but after a week or so I thought I smelled cat urine in the closet. One day I ran into a neighbor who told me that the woman who lived there before had four cats - one of which had a real spraying problem -he sprayed all over the house. There are a few corners I've noticed a faint scent but the only one that really bothers me is the closet. I think it is making my clothes smell! I washed the inside of the closet but it still smells. The closet opens up to an attic crawl space - I can tell the cat went in there because there are paint paw prints...there is exposed insulation in there so I can't really climb in there and scrub everything. Any ideas? Thanks!

This is just a warning: please be careful for your kitties sake! Convicted animal abuser Shon Rahrig has moved to Long Beach. He uses craigslist to find animals to torture, both posting and answering ads. He favors calico cats but will also take kittens, adult cats, puppies and older dogs instead. He tends to focus on 'free to good home' ads so he can get free victims. He is believed to post ads full of manipulative lies (see example at end). In addition to craigslist he attends adoption events and shelters and may use newspaper and bulletin board ads so please warn non-craigslist people you know.

His acts of torture are extremely disturbing. He has been doing this for years and moves to new locations (even across the country) when the locals learn too much. In addition to jail and probation his sentence for torturing kittens in Ohio in 1999 included the decision that he could never again own living things and had to attend mandatory counseling. Instead he skipped town and moved to another state where police, neighbors, shelters and animal control did not know him! This was after pleading guilty (in order to avoid the publicity a trial would have brought him, which would have hindered him when he sought more victims).

NOTE: following sentence describes some of his gruesome crimes so you may wish to skip ahead.

Among other terrible acts he takes kittens and pokes their eyes out, breaks their bones and cuts off their feet. He claims he is sane and has offered no justification for his actions. Of course there is none, but he is rational and aware enough that the court agreed he is sane.

HE GETS HIS VICTIMS ON CRAIGSLIST. DO NOT GIVE OR SELL HIM ANIMALS. CALL ANIMAL CONTROL IF YOU ENCOUNTER HIM. WARN OTHERS.

As of April 2006 he was known to live at:
5901 East Ocean Blvd, Unit D
Long Beach, CA 90803

Shon Rahrig was spotted at an adoption event in the area. Keep in mind that a person who will repeatedly move to new states in order to continue torturing animals will likely go to any length to acquire victims! He could show up anywhere. He has lived in a number of cities in California and elsewhere, including down in San Diego, so he is familiar with a range of places. Don't assume you won't encounter him! He used to have a real estate license and company and lived on Sunset Cliffs Blvd in San Diego so it is familiar territory for him. His license expired last year but may have been renewed

I have two male cats that are a little over a year old. They are both indoor cats and are not fixed. They haven't 'sprayed' anything yet but I am told they will eventually. I am afraid if I get them fixed that it will change their personailties. Anyone have any insight on this?

Now he is still crazy and I thought he would have gotten calmer. He purrs and bites @ the same time. And when I get home from work everyday (9-5) He greets me at the door but now doesnt like when I pick him up. I want something to hold and baby. Should I get a dog?? My cat just wants to run around all day but when I am in the bathroom doing my hair the cat will sleep in there and basically follow me everywhere like a dog. And as soon as I go into my bed, I wake up in the morning and he is right next to me curled up. I just cant take the biting nor do I understand it!!!!!!????

My little peach of a kitten uses the little box (if I am lucky) but doesn't cover it up. I have never experienced this before, but everyone I ask says that their orange cat did the same thing! Is this coincedence?
