To the joker who suggested the washing machine???Naaaah...

Use the dishwasher - uses less water, and doesn't tumble the poor critter!!! And remember to put in the tomato juice, before closing the door - fast.

There is a special formula I've seen advertised on TV. It's called Zero and will get rid of skunk smell. I don't think you're cat will like a tomato juice bath right now. Also a home remedy is fresh lemons, halved, then squeeze the juice all over the poor little thing. Be careful NOT to get in eyes! Rinse thoroughly. Repeat if necessary.

1 quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide
1/4 cup baking soda
1 teaspoon dish-washing detergent
After mixing the ingredients, wash the areas that have been sprayed, taking care to avoid the pet's eyes, ears, and mouth. To finish, simply rinse your pet with water.
Two of the sites confirm that tomato juice works to neutralize the effects of the skunk odor, but it's not as effective as the above-mentioned remedy. In addition, if skunks are a persistent problem, commercial skunk-odor removers are available.

Ohh..unless you have a really docile cat, that doesn't mind the water, you might be in for some trouble. Of course, theres tomato juice, they say that works. Lately I've also heard of a couple new remedies, and one is toothpaste (which might not be great on a cat)..rub it in and wash it off. The other is cola. I have 2 cats that are totally docile in the water, so they would be easy to do, but if not, I could only suggest leaving him outside and it will eventually wear off. Poor guy! My dog just recently got sprayed too.

Washing with tomato juice seems to work, but there are commercial products. Trying to wash a cat is the real problem.

It will be hard, but give it a bath. You will need:
Cat Shampoo and Cat Body wash
A towel for sink and to dry cat with
A sink or tub
cotton balls
soft brush
sponge and cat treats
First, put a towel at the bottom of a sink for cats comfert. Next, fill sink or tub with 3 or 4 inches of warm water. Then, put cotton balls in cats ears so it does no hear water run. Brush cat to remove cat hairs. Slowly, put cat in the sink or tub. give it a treat for going in camly. Then, lather shapoo in cats fur, talk soft to it. Rinse out fur slowly. Wash the under body with body wash. Rinse with warm water. Keep talking to cat soft. Before taking cat out, give it a treat or to for behaving. Finally, take cat out, dry off fur, give cat another treat, and brush hair softly. If desired, you may blow dry hair at low temp. When finshed with cat, give cat 3 or 4 treats and kiss and love on it. Later on in the day, clean bath or sink with sponge carefully to remove cat hair. As you give the cat more bathes, it will enjoy or tollerate them.

I know something better than tomato use Womens Massengill Douche. It really works. Sounds weird but you open the bottle and pour it all over the cat and it removes the smell better than any other treatment.
