Rub a tea-towel all over the kitten to get it's smell on it then rub it all over the other cat it probably won't like it but keep at it anyway keep doing this several times.

I have just introduced a kitten to my adult tom cat.

First we always made sure they were kept in different rooms and only brought them together when they were superivised. We let the cat have a good sniff of the kitten, and although he hissed and growled at the kitten at first, he never attacked it.

He is quite tolerant of the kitten now and is quite content to have him in the room while he is there.

We soon found that he was coming to have a look at the kitten by his own accord.
Just make sure that when you introduce them together that you leave a door open which your cat can use as an escape route if it gets too much for him so he does not feel trapped.

Sorry if this is no help!!!

My answer is a bit different in that I say make a big fuss over the older cat. If you are holding the kitten and the cat comes to you, put the kitten down, pick up the cat and say to the kitten "this is (name) you are his pet. Isnt he a beautiful cat? I love (name) very much. (name) is such a good cat. (name)is going to love you and take such good care of you. You must be very sweet to (name). Tell your cat that the kitten belongs to him. Just say stuff like that and if the kitten hisses at your cat tell it softly "no, you have to be sweet to the cat. You are his kitty. I know they dont really understand but somehow the message gets through.
I had a 1 year old cat and a two year old terrier and after hurricane Katrina, I took in 4 baby kitties just 7 weeks old.
I did this with my dog and cat and in about three days, the cats were all best friends and the dog was tolerating all of them. Now the dog mostly ignores them but never tries to harm them and even protects them from her dog friends.
May not work with all cats but it sure did work for me.

1. Keep your kitten in a separate room for a week. Just so he or she can get used to you.
2. just let the kitten kitten explore your house, and put your tom-cat in the room.
3. now your cats probably have smelled the smell of the other cat.
So now let the cats meet each other and get used to the other cat.
But there may be hissing. It is just Territorial.

Introduce them to each other slowly, in ur presence n make a fuss of both, but moreso of ur older cat, let him know ya still love him btut he just has a little friend now....keep ur kitten in a seperate room for a week or 2 when u r not with them, just in case ur older cat hurts ur kitten....my cats was fine by doing this way, n now they all play together, my young cat still get a smack or 2 of the big cats, when he gets too much..just to let him know to calm down i guess:)At first tho, they hissed at him n was curious of him , but also they didnt like him, n would run away n hide upstairs, but after a couple of weeks they was fine:)Most the time, u find an older cat wont hurt a younger cat intentionally, n usually they come to terms with new friend:)

I hv 1 male whos 2 yr old (Connor) and 2 14 wks old male kittens..... took them to get use to each others in 2 weeks because Connor is outdoor cat while the others are indoor. I held Connor in my arms while the kittens are sniffing him. I give treats to him if he doesnt hiss, It takes patience. If 15 mins no hissing, I let him down and sniff the 2 kittens. He occasionally bites them then i would pick him up and blow at his face. NO yelling or spanking otherwise its getting him NOWHERE! I got that advices from friends of mine who are cat lover. Im new at this too and still learning.

OHHHH also if you are away from home... keep them seperated in both rooms where the door is shut and they can sniff each others under the door. Its a great way besides you will be worry-free.

Good luck, my friend!

DONT, until about a month after your tom has been neutered. Tom cats will kill small kittens in order to bring the mother cat into season again, and even if mamma isnt around, absolutely do not trust him with a kitten until after he has been "seen to".

Very carefully allow him to have his own space maybe even keep the kitten in a carrier for a while when the tom can get use to her scent.Make sure to use different boxes and feeding bowels for a while til they get use to each other for more info call your local vet or animal shelter/humane society

Well your cat might be jealous of the new kitten.Let them sniff each other.Get used to each other. If they start hissing, pull them apart, but don't take a side. Give them the same amount of love. When it comes to food don't use the same bowl.Cats can be very aggressive when it comes to their food.
