I once saw a cat on the playground along with two little girls who didn't own it. When one of the girls were squatting on the playground, the cat came to her and rubbed itself against her butt. The girl freaked out to the reaction and the cat backed off. Is it kind of wierd for a cat to do that or it's normal?

The cat doesn't know/care the difference between a person's knee, ankle, or butt. The cat was being friendly the only wayit knew how. By rubbing against something. The girls butt just happened to be there.

It's normal.

It's normal for a cat to rub on things, I'm sure everyone has seen a cat rub on someone's legs or something, in this case the girl was frightened for some reason.. lol

The cat is showing affection towards the girl. Rubbing up against someone means the cat wants to be petted and enjoys the attention.

It's normal. When a cat rubs against a human it is "marking it's territory" as to tell other cats to BACK OFF! Nothing abnormal, just a cat rubbed her on the butt, instead of on her leg, or hand. Nothing to be worried about.

this is normal for cats. being cats, they don't pay attention to body parts like we do. they aren't aware that there is a difference. infact, they are a lot like dogs, not where they will blatently go up and sniff a butt, but where they kinda get a scent from that and know who you are. rubbing up against her was her way of showing affection, she was trying to mark the girl as hers, and show her that she wanted to be her friend. i was raised around cats my whole life. my family and i bread them for about 6 years, and i have never been without a cat. they call me the cat whisperer because i can sense what a cat is feeling, and tell slight things most people wouldn't pick up on, that tells you the cats mood. all cats come to me, whether or not i want them to. :-) trust me, this is normal, and she was just trying to make friends

It might have rubbed against that part of her body by chance because it was just looking for affection. Cats that were raised in home rather than on the streets are more likely to express affection with humans as their "sales pitch" to get a new home.

Its a sign of affection. The cat didn't understand it was her butt. Im in Cincinnati and the newport aquarium has sharks you can pet. My daughter is highly amused that the sharks are doing the same thing. Rubbing up against her fingers coming back around and doing it again.

It's completely ok. Cats will rub up against anything available. The cat was just being friendly, lol.

Totally normal, if the cat wanted attention it would go over to her and rub on her. A cat will do that to your legs if your standing there, or as my cat does, when I'm lying down she head butts me then tries to sniff my eyeball.

It's normal. Cat's way of marking and giving affection. Cat's don't know what human body parts are no no spots to touch.

Concern should be of the kid...why did they kid act so freaked when an animal touched her rear??? Is there something in her background that isn't quite right???
