She does not want another cat. What should I say besides, "sorry"

Buy her a little card to show you're thinking of her and a frame so she can put a favourite picture of Chelsea in. Maybe you could also buy a copy of 'Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul'; it has many sad tales about cats who have gone over the Rainbow Bridge and your sister will blub her heart out but she'll feel better for it and it's a book that really brings comfort to a bereaved pet lover.

I lost my first 3 cats within the last year and a half. There's not much you can do. Just be there for her, and understand its going to take some time before she's back to normal.

Ask her if she wants to talk about Chelsea. The best thing my friends did for me when my cat died, was listen patiently and not tell me to get over it.

I lost my beloved Halix last year, she got lost and never came back, but you can tell your sister more than "sorry", there´s always hope! After I lost Halix I found two kittens (twins) and now they make me very happy, one of them is called Chesea Party!
Life never ends! That´s clear to me, even if I´ll always miss my Halix. She will find another cat that will make her very, vey happy. That´s my wish for her.

Tell her Chelsea has gone to kitty heaven then take her out to dinner.

A nice gesture would be to give her flowers or a nice "thinking of you" card. Just let her know you love her and you are there for her if she needs anything.

that's all you can do....i had to put my cat down two years ago...he was 21....it sucks...but in the weeks to come she'll get better...all you can do is be a sympathetic ear...and don't belittle her loss
