Are there household plants around. Sometimes the plant doesn't agree with a cat or could be poisonous. If it's been going on for a while, 24 hours or so, contact your vet.

The symptoms fit a blockage, it is essential that you get him to a vet as soon as possible. He will go downhill fast and early action will give him a better chance of survival.
He cannot swallow because there is something setting off the gag reflex, or he is gagging to try to clear the blockage. It sounds like he cannot even swallow saliva.
He will very quickly become dehydrated, his stomach may become distended if gas and digestive juices cannot pass through.
Please don't waste any time in getting veterinary help for him. There is no home remedy for this.
This is a very clear description, and I think you would benefit from learning more about basic first aid for your pet.

To be on the safe side take your cat to a vet immediately. If your cat is not eating along with vomiting clear fluid it could mean something more serious. I hope it is nothing and your cat will be OK.

how long has he been doing this for? if he just started, he could have eaten somthing that is tieing a knot in his intestins. i would call your vet immediatly! my cat had that, and she wouldn't eat. her bowl movments were sticky, and had a very different smell. finnally she had a movement with a peice of string haning, and it wouldn't come out, it hurt to touch it. i took her to a vet open 24/7, and they wanted to charge me $1300 to have the surgury. i had my vet do it in the morning, and it only costs $250. you want to make sure the vet is good and thougho, but you also may need to watch the price. some of them know how much your pets mean to you, and how desperate people get when they are in trouble. beware, but be safe. again, i would goto the vet immediatly, especially if it has been for more than a day or so. my cat was litterally not even one day away from dying, and i only waited 3 days.

You need to take your cat to the vet asap if he is not eating and throwing up clear fluid. It could be a sign of kidney disease or another very serious problem.

Has he gone outside lately? If so he has probably been poisoned. That is what happened to my inside/outside cat. After a while he started coughing up yellow stuff, what we believed was stomach acids. And got really sick and passed away. Sorry if that is the case but that might not be it.

Get him to a vet, right this minute. It sounds as though theres something stuck in his throat, and if this shifts, it could kill him. Your cat is in very urgent need of help. God luck.
