you should never use a flea collar for your pet. its very harmful to them. you should use the liquid called frontline for pets.just put the frontline on their skin behing thier neck and the fleas will die automatically. this can last up to 6 months. i know this because i have worked with a veterinarian and im an intern. this is what the vet told me for my pet and it worked. so good luck with the fleas.

flea collars are not very effective, especially if the pet already has fleas. Get him flea dipped and then use the stuff that you rub between their shoulder blades once a month or however often the package instructs. Keep the grass short and the leaves raked for added prevention. Also, make sure to treat the areas indoors where your pet hangs out and sleeps with flea treatment. The vet does have some of the most effective stuff to use, but it's usually more expensive.

i've never really had much luck with collars....use frontline you get from your vet. it's kinda pricey but TRUST me....IT WORKS and is well worth the money paid for it. they come 3 to a box so there's enough for one cat for 3 months. it's the best flea killer out there. it doesn't keep the fleas from getting on the cat but once the flea bites the cat it dies. you can use this in conjunction with flea shampoo just wait until the animal is completely dry before you apply the frontline. also, it's better than any of the similar products you get from walmart or other stores. (i've never used advantage though).

flea collars don't work, you need frontline plus and you need to use foggers to kill the fleas in your home. 1 flea can lay up to a 1000 eggs and flea collars don't kill those or the larvea. You need to break the flea cycle to kill them all. If you treat them properly you won't have to go to the vet. Go to your local pet store and ask an employee to show you the products and explain them to you. You'd be surprised with some of the stuff you learn. GL.

It might be a pain but before using anything else give him a bath in Palmolive dish soap, it will kill the flees instantly and then I would use the advantage to keep him flee free. One bath with Palmolive won't hurt him, might give him dry skin but shouldn't from one bath. I had to do this to my cat. It worked.

Um, I don't think you need to go to the vet. Go buy some Advantage or First Line (?) at the pet store.
