I am trying to decide on three names I have picked out for a parrot. Here goes... Rizzo, Tiki, or Razi... Which one do you like best? Thanks.

I have a blue parakeet, Ariel (female), who seems lonely. I would like to add a second parakeet to her cage. Ariel is shy, and doesn't like being out of her cage. I would like to know if, when I get this new bird, weather or not i should first put it in a different cage. Ariel is definitely not very aggressive. (She has a plastic bird in her cage, and she is always singing to it.)

hey everyone! well once again i have some questions about my budgie!ok 1. when i got my budgie i was told that it was male, and a few weeks after that i noticed that their was alot of brown around his nostrils,(his cere)so i assumed that Gizmo(that's his name)was female! however, three days ago i took him into my bathroom to let him splash around in the shower, which he loves to do, and when i took him out i noticed that all the brown was gone! his cere was now a lightish blue! i absolutely could not believe that! so i was wondering what on earth was all that brown stuff? was it the dust stuff from his food? and has that ever happened to you? 2. gizmo is now 4 months old and his cere still hasn't turned ''fully blue'' so exactly how much longer until that happens? thanks i appreciate it!

I really want to do that for my birds because free flight is really beneficial for them, but how do I pull it off? The house is really dangerous for birds with un-clipped wings. Is there some way to create a free-flight habitat outdoors?

Both birds looked young, vigorous and did not have any trauma as though they were attacked by cats, etc. Found them on the same day the day after filling their feeders with fresh, new seed from Walmart. One bird was right under the feeder on the ground. I was worried seed could be from China, etc and could have also been contaminated like the dog and cat food was. Has anyone heard of bird deaths from wild bird seed from Walmart or anywhere else?

My stepdad wants to get the neighborhood chickens out of the yard, but he's thinking about shooting them with a pellet gun. I don't want to hurt them.

One just got hit by a car in front of my house, it's a little common brown bird. A friend of mine was a bird rehaber, so i know how to check for broken bones. I put on gloves in case it might be sick, and it seems fine. Is it just in shock? should i put it somewhere until it gets better? It seems like its blind i wave my hand around and its non responsive... otherwise it seems fine....

we just had a chick recently hatch out, about an hour ago. Everything seemed to go fine, but there is this little stringy thing hanging from his rear end that is stuck to the egg shell. His body came out fine, and is not attached to shell in anyway, it's just that little stringy thing that is connected to his shell.

He seems alright, but everywhere he goes, the shell comes with him...kinda like a little leash. Any ideas what this is? Should we get rid of it? I'm not going to mess with anything until I know what it is.

I know Native Americans can legally keep certain bird feathers like an eagle's, but why is it illegal for others to have and keep the feathers of certain types of birds, even if they found them?
I don't understand nor see the harm- after all it's off the bird for good!

I'm looking for soemthing that will be:

a) Happy to stay in a cage so it doesn't poop everywhere
b) something with a nice singing voice that whistles when stimulated but not constantly all day and all night.

I want to make sure such a species exists becasue the last thing I would want is to get e bird that I am unhappy with and that is unhappy in my home.

Or let me know if no such thing exists, then I guess I'll just have to keep listening to the birds in my yard...

Thanks in advance,
DT

I know many of you do but some do not...
Foods That Are Toxic To Birds
AVOID:
Dried Fruits that have been treated with sulphur dioxide.
Stay away from junk foods and any foods high in fat, salt, or sugar. Birds are also lactose intolerant so milk products should be limited to small amounts of hard cheese and yogurt.
Processed meats or other foods high in nitrates, nitrites, sulfites, or monosodium glutamate (MSG).
Alcohol
Dry Bean Mixes
Peanut Shells
Apple Seeds
Fava and Navy Beans Plumbs
Avocado
Fruit Pits
Potatoes (raw & green)
Butter
Grapefruit
Rhubarb
Cabbage (all)
Lemons
Salt
Caffeine
Mushrooms
Sprouted Lima
Chocolate
Onions
Tomatoes
This is by no means a complete list. If you are unsure, read the label, seek more information from the maker, or consult your Avian Vet. When in doubt, do not use!

I don't know what happened to kill my baby parakeet but he was having very agonizing seizures and wasn't opening his eyes. If you think you may know or happen to know, please let me know. Thank you!

I'm just a little concerned if he is... he is a turquoise parrot. I'm not sure if he is underweight or normal.

In the photo, he is standing up straight because he is alert to a dog barking, so he may be stretching himself slightly.
