I have a cockatiel and would like to get another bird, but as a companion for my cockatiel during the school year (she hates being alone) and since my parents work she will be alone the whole day

Could buying a couple finches (or canarys) to live in a cage next to hers keep her company while im away. I don't want to get a bird that needs socialization much because i'm afraid i would play with one bird more than the other and i dont want to be unfair

So would finches keep my cockatiel from being lonely

I have a female sunconure and she keeps shredding up the newspaper at the bottom of her cage and building a nest out her scraps. She hasn't laid any eggs yet and I don't want her to! The newspaper is changed everyday and she just tears it up again and builds a nest. I don't think anything will discourage her. I really don't want to breed her either. How can i possibly stop her from nessting?????????????!!!!!!!!!

My lovebird has little tiny spiky feathers around his head (less than ten), you cant see them but you can feel them underneath the softer feathers. Whenever I touch them my bird winces and pulls back as if to be in pain. He is about 6 months old. What is it and why is it hurting him?

It is 10:46 PM at the moment and my 5 budgies, four male and one female. Have randomly begun rapidly flapping their wings. I'm not sure why I've calmed/soothed them down by talking to them softly. Could you please tell me the cause of this? I think they were scared but nobody went in the kitchen. All the lights are off and everything. (Except for a small night-light on the kitchen microwave it doesn't bother them and they have a cloth ontop of their cage)

I have grown several batches of sprouts and all had mold. I used a method were I put seeds on a wet paper towel and I put another wet paper towel on top. I heard exposure to sun could make seeds loose nutritional value so I put the sprouts in a dark area. What attracts mold and is there a way to prevent it?
