Not a good starter bird if you have not had a bird before.
Go to petfinder first.

In southern Illinois they run around $1,000.
You can go to www.petfinder.com and find a local shelter that has birds. You can adopt one much cheaper, but realize that you may have some issues to deal with depending on how the bird is.
Also, keep in mind these birds can live up to 70+ years so be prepared for a lifelong friend.
