Mockingbirds are notorious night singers. Check out this site for more info and to hear their song:

Birds That Sing At Night

Along with the Northern Mockingbird, there are several nocturnal birds who call, but don't actually "sing." In Kansas, they would include the Whip-poor-will, Chuck-will's-widow, Common Poorwill, and the Common Nighthawk (which is usuall heard at dusk, as opposed to all through the night). There are also numerous frogs and toads that make chirping sounds that can be mistaken for birdcalls.

The suggestion made by someone else about the nightingale would not be very likely, as they are a bird of Europe and southwest Asia.
