Grass is safe to eat. However, grass often has pesticides, fertilizers and other chemicals sprayed onto it, therefore it is not wise to eat it unless you are absolutely sure that it is safe.

By the way, wheat is a form of grass, as is every other grain.

Bamboo is also a form of grass, and is edible as bamboo shoots common in oriental cuisine.

The only grass you should ever eat is wheat grass grown chemical free, and grwon indoors. There are so many pesticides that you could ingest when eating grass that the risk would be to high to take a chance on. Stick with lettuce!!!
