too young and an amazon might be too dangerous. i would prefer a sun conure and/or a quaker parrot. anybody has had any experience with young kids and birds? i know training is necessary but i heard amazons are especially temperamental. my kids are good with small birds(budgies and lovies) but they are tame. i wanted an african grey but heard they are too high maintenance. any advice, suggestions or even corrections of what i have heard will be appreciated. thank you and happy holidays.

My parakeet's leg was stuck between the door of his cage and the lock, I managed to free him but his leg has a "scrape" (not bleeding) and his leg band is at the base of his claw. It's stuck, he can't move his claw or grab things. What should I do???

When I got my budgie from the pet store they said it was 2-3 months old and they couldn't gareentee the sex of the bird.
Around the holes in the nose it is faint blue but the rest of the nose is cream/light brown color. I know the boys are suppose to be blue and girls brown. Is it maybe to early too tell since there is a small area of blue. it is also just getting small hints of grey on its wings I dunno if that helps with age determination or not.

I bought a larger cage from someone who had posted an ad in the paper. They said in the ad that it was brand new, but it had a few toys (which I've thrown out for sanitation purposes) in it and they admitted to having a quaker in it for a while.

It is the white coated metal/wire with the hard plastic tray bottom. The best I can find as to how to properly clean this is to wash it with soapy water, then wipe on a diluted bleach solution ( 1/4 cup to 1 gal. or 1Tbsp to 1gal. -I've heard both).

What have you used in your experience or heard (from a credible source) is safest to use? My 'keet isn't going near this thing unless I'm satified that it is both clean and safe for him to chew on (because I know he will!!!).

Thanks!!!

I have a african gray and it always tries to bite me when I feed it or when I open the cage to let roam around. It also pulls its' feathers out a lot. I was told they do this when they are nervous or scared. is there anyway to help calm the bird down and create a more relaxing environment for it? What should I do about the bitting?

They were all laying eggs until eight weeks ago and now only one
lays eggs. I clean out there hen house every day. I just don't get it. These same chickens laid eggs all year round last year -
Do you know why this is happening?

you can cross dog breeds, can you cross birds? ie pidgeon/seagull (that would be a cross between the rat of the sky and a rat of the sea).

If its possible how would u name these new monsters?

When I was 10 years old, I found a injured green Indian parrot near my house, I took it home, somehow convinced my parents to keep the parrot, initially I had to cage him initially, but later he became so friendly that I took him out of cage and kept him open, I use to take him close while sleeping, I use to often take him out in garden, it was a part of our family, sadly one day it flew away when a some outside crow scared him off.
I love macaw, I know they are expensive ones but i don’t know if they are legal in India, does any one in India especially in Mumbai know about it?

My parakeet's wings were trimmed when I brought him home from petsmart. I looked at his wing and they seem to be growing, just no flight feathers. He had one, but it was a blood feather and he pulled it out!
