Through a bizarre sequence of events, I have come into possesion of a flamingo. Great! you might think, but actually its nothing but hassle. He eats constantly, and has put three holes in my sofa.
I have had two ideas to solve the problem that I'd like your opinion on -
1. Kill the flamingo and sell it for meat.
2. Eat the flamingo

Can anyone help me out here?

I want to get a pet bird and I really like what I have discovered about princess parrots and eclectus parrots but am concerned that they might not be suitable for a beginner. However, given that I have read that these birds have long lifespans and so if I want one probably the sooner, the better and I only have enough time to devote to one bird at a time. Although I have never had a pet bird before I understand the need for a huge cage, plenty of quality time outside the cage, varied toys, good hygiene, a balanced diet of pellets-fresh fruits and veges- occasional seed, half yearly healthy bird vet checks, immediate action if the bird appears at all unwell or changes its behaviour, worming etc. I have a dog and cats so would like a bird that will be able to cope (obviously nothing unsupervised). I have no children. I work but am devoted to all my pets and make time to spend with them. I am not immunocompromised (nor is my husband). Could I care for one of these species?

Have birdbath; want water in it for the winter. Live in MD; expect freezing weather at some point. DON'T TRUST electricity and water together much, esp. outside---it's a silly quirk. Anybody ever use a solar or battery operated heater and can give feedback?

Suggestions on how to keep my wild birds (and squirrels) happy? The bath is fairly near the front door, and won't mind doing some fresh water regularly (or even adding some hot water), but am looking for fairly easy and not TOO costly ideas. Thanks!

Our regular avian vet who we usually have do it, is kind of far away, so we took Paco to our regular vet, who assured us that their vet tech had lots of exotic bird experience. Well, he clipped the feathers so short that they can't even be seen. They look like they are about an inch long! Our regular avian vet leaves a bit of feather, like 2-3 inches. This just seemed extreme to us.

I have a male and female parakeet, Danny and Cleo. This morning i looked in the cage and i noticed that Danny had a drop of dried blood on his cere by the little hole thing. Theres also a drop of dried blood on the perches. Does anyone know why he is bleeding and what can i do? Do you think that Cleo and him got in a pecking fight? (they do this often), but they also really love eachother. Danny doesnt seem like hes in pain and he seems really happy. Please help!

HI, i was wondering what type of mesh to use for building breeding cages for cockatiels. I heard that there is zinc in hardware mesh. What kind of mesh do you use without a bird getting poisened? I heard you have to scrub it with something.

If you are a person that builds homemade cages, have you ever had a bird get poisened from the zinc? What do you do to keep the cage zinc-free?
thnx
