You can tell by the coloring..If its a normal Grey one as it matures its head will turn mostly Yellow If its Male...Females will continue to look like a baby grey They may have a bit of Yellow on their head and face but not as much. You can Google Cockatiels(Male and Female) and see the diferences..If its a Pearl a Male will lose the Pearling(Though it will still be a pearl) Males are also alot more Vocal..Whistle more and even can learn to talk a bit..Every male in our Aviary Could Say"I'm a Chicken" at one point!

I'm not sure what "the bottom of da cage" has to do with anything, but I suggest taking your bird to a vet. He or she can tell you the gender, either by visual identification or by DNA test.

If you don't have a vet, you can find one at http://aav.org/vet-lookup

It relies upon on what style f cockateil you have. in case you have a lationo coakateil (whcih means they are all white) then that may not ordinary to tell yet men in many situations whistle whilst women not often whistle. in the event that they are pied cockateils then decrease than a men tail it particularly is dark and has no markings. a female would have stipes or spots decrease than her tail. additionally by using fact the male cokcateil gets older it relatively is going to faucet on mirrors and whilst he whistles he ought to spred out his wings like a coronary heart. desire this facilitates!

The orange patch on the side, if it is bright, it's a boy
The tail feathers, if they are spotted or bared, it's a girl.

Boys are more talkative than girls too.

Hope this helps!

If it has lots of white rings underneath it's wing then it is a female. If it has none, then it is a male.
