Sounds like your bird is sick, and unfortunately when a bird displays signs of illness it usually means they are VERY ill, they have learned to hide symptoms of illness very well as out in the wild its the weakest/sickest birds that are easy prey.. you NEED to get your bird to an AVIAN vet ASAP! in the meantime get some PROBIOTICS and administer these through its drinking water, make sure your bird IS drinking even if it means using a dropper to beak method.. Make sure your bird is kept WARM and QUIET, use a lamp to keep him warm (i even use a reptile heat rock wrapped in a rug) also you can use a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel to keep him warm (just make sure its not too hot and make sure it doesn't go cold) and also swaddle the WHOLE cage in rugs/towels to keep any extra warmth in.. GO TO THE AVIAN VETS ASAP!!

Little one, your parakeet has to be kept at a temperature above 65 Fahrenheit. Keep himaway from the windows and if you can in a corner near a lamp, or the warmest place you can find. Make sure he has plenty of fresh food. She can catch pneumonia if she is in a drafty place. Take a towel and drape it on the two sides of her cage, and a second one on top and down the back. Leave the front open until her bedtime, so she won't get depressed. If you can't keep your home warm enough for her, or protect her from drafts, maybe you have a Grandma, or a friend to keep her until it is warmer??? As long as it is 65 or so, she should be OK---just keep cold air from blowing on her----Birdman

Make sure she has clean water with vitamins in them, since your bird is probably sick she will need them. You could put a towel on one side of the cage if you think there may be drafts. Clean the cage so you can monitor the poo better xP. You could even put a desk lamp near the cage to produce some heat. Make sure the bulb is not in her eyes. Read your heath care section over in your parakeet book.... you do have at least one right?

it would sound like she's cold, or maybe now she has a cold. If the cage is open you might want to add a little birthing box with bedding so she can huddle out of the cooler air or place a sheet over the top and sides to contain some of the air that passes. Thats all I can think of without adding warming lights and using electricity

For now....Cover the cage on three sides, place a lamp NEAR but not touching the cover (may catch fire) so the heat from the bulb will radiate into the cage.

If you can later buy a small heat lamp.

Well, My cockatiels are outside and they are in temperatures down to 40 degrees at night (I'm in Florida) They are happy and healthy.
But they don't do well in drafty areas where it is very cold.
I would think, if your bird is inside and not active and not eating.
you should take it to the vet.

When birds get all fluffed up and shivery and doesnt just mean they are cold, it means they can be sick. Keep an eye and see if he eats and drinks, if not, better take him to the vet.

It means that maybe there was a draft that she was caught in. She could be really sick and she might die, my advise to you is to get her to your vet ASAP. It is the best thing to do in a situation like this.
