Hands on training is best. Spend about 20 to 30 minutes twice a day with your bird. Make sure there are no distractions in the room just you and your bird. Use single syllable words to begin with. Continue to repeat the same word over and over to the bird with a short pause between each word. You can also purchase a variety of tools designed to aid you in this procedure. We use an item called a "Wordy Birdy" it's a recorder designed to tape short messages on that repeats the message continuously.

First it should be hand-trained and then just sit with it and repeat something simple like Hi over and over.... my dad got me a fake parrot that talked to teach my birds ......sadly since it was 3 times bigger than them they just flew away

Talk to it constantly. We got a record to play to our while we were gone during the day. Sadly, later we found our Parrot was not the kind that talks - red nape. It is the Yellow napes that talk.

First teach it it's name keep saying it over and over. Then move to other words. Our cockatiel says over 12 words and he keeps finding new ways to combine them for new phrases. He is very smart
