I was thinking if it is a good idea to get another male in October.I've heared it is not ok to have 2 male canaries in a cage.So i'll have him in a different cage but in the kitchen too.
What do you think?

i have zebra finchs and a pair of nun finchs. each pair has there own night cage, completely separated from the rest just in the same room. but during the day they all have free flight through the house, the nun finchs are new we have only had them a week, so they are still getting used to the one room but the "main congregation area" is in the living room.. so my question is what other birds would go good with the ones i have??/ to join the flock and be left semi unattended.. my boyfriend really wants strawberry finches... i want the lady gouldians altho he says they are a little clown looking lol

I have a 6 day old chicken egg with a possible live embryo in it, I keep warm in a homemade incubator I made myself. But what I want to know is it ok to leave the incubator on if I'm gone for 1-3 hours? the heat source I use for this incubator is a heating pad.

I'm really concerned if I should leave the incubator on while I'm gone for over 1-3 hours since I wouldn't want the heating pad to get too warm and catch on fire.

Also on this heating pad the heat setting CANNOT be adjusted.

Can anyone help me on this please? I really don't want to lose this egg if its possibly fertile.

My daughter and I found a hummingbird on the groud. Apparently after some research we have determined it is about 15 weeks old. We are feeding it bird-nectar, but we also saw that it needs protein. Any ideas?

A friend of mine has an Amazon Parrot. He's one of the sweetest birds I've ever met. Spoiled too, but in a good way. Every time I go to visit he expects a treat, but that's me who started it. It's something I don't mind doing either as we don't get to see each other often. He loved ricecake that I took him the other day.

I was looking for ideas for homemade toys for my feathered friend, but not sure where to start. Any ideas or URLs?

Thanks

I have 6 day old chicken egg I've been keeping warm in a homemade incubator I made myself using a plastic box, towels, a heating pad and a small container of water for humidity. I turn it over and check the temp like most poultry websites recommend.

But thing is when I candled it today, I noticed the inside of the egg has gotten darker and the faint lines inside are somewhat darker and more pronouned. Also, there appears to be some type of dark(almost black) spot in the center of the yoke. Also there's some small black lines coming out of the edge of the yoke.

I know there's a possible chance this egg is fertile but is what I'm seeing normal after having an egg for 6 days?

I know that by the 5th day you can see the embryo developing but I wanted to hear what someone who's owned or raised chickens has to say about my description.

I've had a chicken egg for 6 days that is possibly fertile. I've heard during the lst 3 days of incubation the humidity has to be raised and you stop turning the egg over on the 17th or 18th day. Is there any other advice anyone can give me?

I had a cockatiel and it was great but drove dh insane with the noise. Not only did it talk all the time, but it mimicked the microwave, telephone (never knew which was really ringing) and the doorbell. These were not an issue, but the early morning skwaking every single day was. Is there such a thing as a people friendly bird that is not tooooo noisy?

I noticed that on my budgies beak there is what seems to be a build up of something. I don't know if it is dried food or something worse like fungus. It is on the end of his beak and also on the lower beak (the area that is the "lower lip"). On the lower part, the build up looks quite large, almost like a lump. He does not seem sick, he is still lively and is eating as usual. I am worried about this as I leave for a trip tomorrow and will be leaving my bird with relatives. Does anyone know what might be causing this and how I can treat it?
