In general, all wild animals do not make good pets. Hummingbirds have a specialized diet that is difficult to duplicate, so they would be hard to feed properly, and they might get sick and die too soon. They prefer to live in a large territory, where they can use their specialized flying skills to find food and mates, which would be difficult to provide for a pet. They are also territorial and very assertive, bold little birds, and it is unlikely they could be the affectionate companions that people expect of their pets

NO! Hummingbirds don't just eat nectar..they eat lots of insects as well. It is a wild bird and probably would not survive very long in a cage. They need lots of food...very high metabolism and lots of space. Besides keeping one as a pet is against the law! Don't do it!

well first off, it's not legal to hold a wild bird. second off, unless you are an expert on wild birds, you are going to kill it very quickly. let it go and put some feeders on the porch - try fuschia flowers and the humming bird feeders you can buy at garden stores. but let it go, or you've sealed it's death warrant. you know no more about how to feed and care for it than it knows how to do that for you.

A hummingbird just can't work as a pet. They have high care issues and I cannot find anyone who will give you a pet hummingbird on the internet. The best way to enjoy them is to get a feeder and watch them come and feed. Wild animals do not convert well to captivity.

No, humming birds have a very fast metabolism and have to keep moving. They would not survive for long in such a restricted environment.
