I was amazed when I first got into birds to find out how many people had them...I would give you the numbers from birdtalk magazine but that has already been done ;).
I myself have:
1 Greenwing Macaw (Max)
2 Umbrella Cockatoos (Houdini & Hannah)
1 African Grey (Kobe)
1 Derbyan Parakeet (Gabrielle aka Gabby)
3 Peachface Lovebirds (Ladybird, Duchess, and Duke)
And plan on getting an Amazon of some sort and Mollucan Cockatoo before I consider my house full... ;)

I have a 10 year old Goffins Cockatoo Coconut
10 year old African Grey Parrot Max
11 year old Senegal Parrot Crackers
and soon a Hornbill or a Toucan
You also said in your question how many bird owners are out there it is estimated that there are 50million bird owners out there, and this is in just the United States, If you were to take a pet survey worldwide birds would be the most popular pet companions in the world. Because a lot of countries dont have dogs and cats so they keep the birds native to their lands as pets. almost half of all the birds owned are Budgies, and Cockatiels in the United States, The other half are any others.

There are many people who own parrots - more than most people realize. Most do not like to advertise the fact that they own one or more because then they are setting themselves up to being robbed, because some parrots are quite valuable and can be sold quite easily. I, myself, own two parrots - an African Grey and a Double Yellow Headed Amazon. Parrots aren't for everyone - most people are attracted to them for their talkiing abilities, but not all parrots talk.

they are lovable and interesting, yet parrots can get loud. also they are somewhat messy, like you're able to scrub their cage now and again 2 to three circumstances an afternoon. i'd evaluate the elements the position you stay. in case you stay in a wintry climate climate, a parrot probable isn't the superb until eventually you've a heated patio on condition that parrots love homestead windows and sunshine. and residing in a warmth climate all 12 months lengthy, the parrot can truly be outside.
