Generally they get along with birds the same size as they are, or smaller. The exceptions to this are love birds, which are one of the most aggressive parrots out there, parrotlettes, which are tiny, but ripe little bullies, and the larger parrots like macaws and amazons. Budgies could get along with the smaller conures if kept on a play stand and supervised closely. The only species I would say is safe to house with a budgie is a cockatiel and only if the cage is big enough with extra cups and water containers. They could get along with canaries, too. Budgies are bossy little guys and a poor cockatiel could be harassed to the point of insanity >.< . Canaries seem to have the balls to fight off a budgie.
