These are two adorable birds I found on my backyard. If I do not rescue them now, they will be dead and full of ants tomorrow. Please help me.

My dad used to free field mice, believe it or not, with just some oil, cooking oil, and they sometimes bit him, but he always got them free.

I had a friend who had her pet bird get stuck to a glue board for rats. She used unscented talc powder to get the bird off. She said she had to use a lot of the powder and very slowly and gently work the powder under the bird until it came free. She said it took a while but the powder kept the glue residue off it's feathers and was much safer than trying to use a cleanser which would likely kill the bird.
Good luck with the little birds! I hope you can get them free.

Call a vet or the animal shelter, if they don't know they should be able to tell you who to call. There may me a bird rescue in your area. Get help right away before it is too late. Did you look on the rat glue label to see what to do or who to call in case of misuse?

I have heard that peanut butter will do it. it is a lot safer than field mice? or other things suggested. just put it behind the birds on the glue and move it down a little bit at a time behind the birds and then holding the birds slowly try to remove them as you are putting the peanut butter behind them. use caution not to pull on their wings and try very hard to save their feathers. than once you get them off, make sure to clean them with some special bird shampoo, or very mild hand soap and rinse them very well. good luck and I hope you are able to save them.

I would try using Nail Polish remover on a cotton ball. Use it to dab their feet and try to free them. Rat glue is very strong, but Nail Polish remover should be less harmful to the birds than other solvents you might use.

Just clean their feet with plenty of water afterwards.

I hope this works.

My husband says try hand cleaner. It removes anything. If these are not your birds they will probably attack you when u get near them. Be careful, wear gloves. Better yet call animal control. Don't forget about the bird flu.

Are you talking about glue pads? If so try spraying cooking pam on them. That helps to free animals.

I think you should ring some wildlife carers and ask them. I've got a lot of links to wildlife carers from a lot of countries on my site, at
http://au.geocities.com/leaswebsite/links under "Wildlife Assistance" - just click on them all, click on your country and state, have a browse, 'phone them and ask their advice.

Very very best of luck.

Use PAM, the cooking grease. I use sticky traps for mice and this is how I get them off to let them go elsewhere
