I don't have a dog yet (have two young children, so maybe, when they grow older I will buy one) but I want to extend all my appreciation to you because today, I saw a blind man guided by his dog. I observed, the dog knew every movement that he made, was or not a right movement for his owner. I was truly touched by this. Thanks to all the dogs, who faithfully stand "by mankind" with dissabilities of any kind!!!!!!!

I had to put my dog down (about 80 pounds) and I buried him in my back yard. He is in a thick plastic bag given to me by the Veterinarian and the "top" of the bag is about a foot under the surface. The ground is really soft there now and I keep pressing it down and adding more dirt. Should I consider re-burying him deeper? Or is this a common "side effect" of burying a passed pet? Any suggestions will help. Thanks

I reeeeaaallllly want a pet rat. There's only one at the petstore and she is a female all white rat with a black head. She is just adorable and I've been doing some research on rats for a while now. I've convince my mom over, but my dad still doesn't like the idea of having a pet rat in the house. UGH! I already have a dog, two cats, and two gerbils. But the gerbil's are actually my sisters so that doesn't matter much, right? My cats really don't mind the gerbies, so I'm assuming they'll leave the rat alone. I already know everything to buy if I do end up buying her, but how can I convince my dad!?!? Please give me all the information you know and and how to convince him. Thanks a bunch this really helps!

my dog killed a squirrel - the squirrel did not bite or hurt the dog, but the dog may have injested some of the squirrel's blood or who knows what - is this harmful to the dog? The dog is a back yard dog, had all her initial vaccinations as a pup and at a yr and 1/2 but nothing since and she is now 5 :/

My partner and I own a pet shop, and take in kittens to sell. My partner insists they are 7 weeks, and last week one came in that he didn't think was that old so he brought it home to look after for a week or so, as he thought it was about 6 weeks. It was such a sweet little black and white cat, who our own 2 cats seemed to love (which is unusual for the male), and who loved cuddles, and was a really good eater. He was brought home on the Friday, and as he was quite skinny and I wanted to check how old the vet thought he was I made a vets appointment on Monday. Monday morning he seemed fine, had had a couple of toilet accidents but we'd cleaned them up and thought nothing of it. I took him to the vet who agreed he was probably about 6 weeks or a little older but the runt. He was a little grubby, so she said he probably hadn't had the best start to life and might never grow to be a particularly large cat, but he should be fine to sell on in a week or so. She also gave him some ear drops

My dog is an older Border Terrier mix.She doesnt know shes old though lol.
About a month ago,she started losing a small amount of hair from the inner parts of her front and back legs. There are small red scabs also..I looked it up and decided to try some anti fungal shampoo.
Along with that i used Calm Coat and Sulfodene.I also bathed her with flea and tick shampoo in case she had fleas.None of this has helped. It has spread to her body now.
Does anyone know of any medicines that have worked well for you?If it doesn't get better soon I'm going to take her to the vet but first i want to see if theres anything else out there.
Thanks sooo much!!

I dont know if you could call these girls barn brats, but all i know is that they are straight up making it so i avoid coming to see my horse on nights i know they are there. They dont intimidate me they just get on my nerves. Three of them are a little older than me, one is a tad younger, and one is a few years younger. The one closest to my age isnt my problem.

These girls constantly are throwing unsolicited advise at me. If they think im putting my saddle on wrong they talk to me about it, telling me im doing bad. When im in the middle of riding my horse one of the girls will go "make sure you walk him". Its not like i dont appreciate advise but ive made it pretty clear that i do not want the advise. Then when i snap back they start bragging saying stuff like "Maybe he can be like my horse one day" Which gets annoying because for one my horse is 15, there horse are all under 10. So obviously i dont want my horse like theirs.

Okay, so like last Saturday I got 2 8 weeks old kittens from the humane society. One is male, the other female. We have a 9 year old cat and another 1-1 1/2 year old cat.
we are introducing the female first (She`s spayed) and we let her down, and she started running, and my 1 year old cat started chasing her.
My question: How am I to know if he`s going to hurt her or not? Also, how am I supposed to know if he just is curious and wants to see her closer? anything is much appreciated.
Thanx

hi my golden retriever is going to give birth to a litter of puppies in 25-30 days, and i was wondering what kind of bedding i should use in the welping box after she gives birth to them, I was reading about using hay or wood shavings, but hay can cause fleas and ticks, and everything Ive read has said not to use woodchips or shavings with newborn puppies, so I'm going to use sheets and blankets, or does anyone have another idea?

Many towns only require that dogs be licensed and vaccinated against rabies. But more and more towns are licensing cats, too. In fact, more people keep cats as pets than dogs. What do you think?

My son wants a dog and I won't let him have one. He settled for a cat. I have been taking her outside little by little each day and she is doing pretty good after 3 weeks. Everybody kept saying how cute she is when she fetches, they laughed watching her run and bring it back. When they see her on the leash, they looked pretty upset, trying to tell me the different between cat and dog. DUH!!! My son's friend said I was being mean. My son didn't care at first and was happy to brag something different. Now he won't brag about his cat or take her outside anymore. When he did, I reliezed it wouldn't be til after dark. She'll walk beside you no problem except she hear new noise, she'll sometimes try to run. It don't look pretty. I see that. It looks as I'm choking her. She is inside cat so we don't want to lose her, the cats outside are wild and very sick. Plus it's the safest birth control . She seem to like going out and walking. I thought " Lucky " we were to find us a cat.

I took my dog to the vet today and they found a couple of fleas, I have a small dog so they gave me flea medication for dogs between 11kg and 25kg. The problem is i have a cat also but she does not have any fleas, So when I give my dog this medication I'm afraid there are going to jump off my dog and onto my cat so is it safe to give my cat a very small dosage of this medication to help prevent fleas?
the medication is "Advantage 55"

I am so upset. I took my two dogs to get spayed and neutered yesterday and now I am not too sure I did the right thing. I thought it was the responsible thing to do (being that one is a boy and the other a girl) but when I mentioned it to someone today (after seeing the cones around their heads) I am starting to think I did something terrible. The person told me that I had ruined my dogs lives and that there were other ways of keeping them from having puppies. The person told me if I were to like it of someone took me to the doctors to get me fixed! I am so sad now. Did I do the right thing?

I have a hydor 2 and i am putting a second one in and removing a maxijet and i have a maxijet for my skimmer and then a little dinky powerhead for my refugium. The temp holds at around 82-83 during the day and like 81.2 at night. I assume that this is to high for a reef tank? I have no glass top on my tank so i assume that the only thing i can do is a chiller?

They're awfully cute, but I have a kitty and a corgi and want to know if they'd all get along or if the bull terrier would not be a very family friendly kind of doggy.

I have 2 indoor cats and have noticed fleas lately. Last Saturday I bombed the house, gave both cats a bath, and applied Frontline. before I did all this I only noticed a couple of fleas on the cats, AFTER doing all this my house is infested..its like the flea bombs were literally bombs that released fleas...Help before my hubby makes me get rid of both cats.

Just wondering if anyone has ever had experience with the 7 in 1 shots that are sold at feed stores and some pet stores.
they are like $4 for everything but the rabies. I have heard of people doing this, are there any down sides?

We have tried everything in the book to help get rid of our animals' fleas. We are about to start our dogs on frontline but I was wondering if there are any over-the-counter meds that REALLY work. I'm not going to waste my $ just to have my dog miserable all over again.
