My 8-week old kitten came into contact with a flea-infested cat recently. As soon as we went back home, I combed her for fleas and got maybe 5 of them off. I combed her every couple hours or whenever I noticed her scratching, finding one or two fleas each time. I stopped finding fleas after about the second day. At this point, it's been about 4 days since the initial flea infestation. I saw her scratching last night and combed her immediately and found nothing. Was she only scratching bites?

I think the adult flea population might be under control but I worry about any eggs they may have dropped. Should I worry about using flea products for the carpeting and bedding areas? If I wash my kitten with Dawn dish detergent, will any eggs/larvae in her fur die? She's too young for harsh flea products and collars, so I am trying to seek alternatives to control this situation.

When they repeatedly hit, kick, strangle your dog?

And they're a toddler?
Or a gradeschooler?

What would you do in each age group?

Two years ago I had my dog Mikey (boston Terrier) vaccinated at a pet clinic and then two days later he went into kidney failure. Our regular vet was able to save him but he had to stay in the hospital for 5 days. He is fully recovered but we have not gotten his shots again out of fear. Then just Wednesday Oct 3rd, 2007 we had our other boston terrier Maggie vaccinated at our regular vet. On Saturday Oct 6, 2007 she went into a grand mall seizure and respitory failure and sadly never recovered. Now my husband and I are extremely reluctant to have any of our other pets vaccinated out of fear it will either make them severly sick or possibly kill them as it just recently did. We are not sure if the vaccinations did this but we are nervous that it has now happened twice.

My step-sister Kelly had bred goldendoodles and plans on doing it again. She has done health testing and makes sure that the pups are healthy. She has a licence She usually sells them for about $200. She breeds them for health and good temperament. Is she a good breeder? Please don't attack her.

This is especially with the guppies I buy. I test the water and its fine & even had the pet store test it for me & they said it was fine as well. I do regular water changes & don't overfeed my fish. I bought a guppy and a platy the other day and two days later they died (this happens everytime I buy fish!). I went back and they replaced it for me and the new one died as well. They even recommended that I try buying fish from other places to see if they survive and I have and the guppies are usually fine but other fish die. I have plenty of airation in the tanks.
12 gallon tank: 5 female guppies (1 died, then the replacement died) 3 males, 1 baby pleco. 20 gallon: 6 neon tetras, 4 cherry barbs (1 looks like its going to die- its skin around the mouth looks like its peeling), 4 rasboras, 3 mollies, 2 cory cats, and 1 small pleco. The guppy tank is new, cycled using stability. I heard about dyed guppies and that they are weaker and I wonder if that is in fact what I get at this store!

My neighbor has about 10 cats. Most are sick. None are spayed or neutered. At least 3-4 of them show up at my house every day, fighting with our cats and begging for food.

My husband has shot at them with an airgun and we yell and chase them away but they keep coming around. My neighbor says he will try to round them up "one of these days" but does nothing. I get no help from the city.

Animal control says they don't deal with cats. What are we to do?? Kill them and bury them and be done with it? I don't want to have to round up sick aggressive cats and make a 45 minute trip to the pound!

I recently relocated and a friend recommended a vet to me. My cat has her first appt. tommorow. They sound pretty good. The office is in a nice location, the pictures on the website look clean, etc. The doctor and support staff profiles show they have plenty of experience. The person who set the appt was very helpful and friendly. But my kitty has had some so-so experiences with good sounding vets before (one actually recommended by the shelter we got her from). What are some things to look for or questions to ask to make sure this is a good place for my baby?

Our 4-month-old neutered male kitten wants to eat all day long and stuffs himself and sometimes throws up. He's vicious about food like he's starving, yet we are feeding him a quality high protein diet of mostly canned food (not Friskies...)

He's been checked for worms and intestinal parasites.

My cat was 9yrs old. He became sick on Monday, felt cold to touch, seemed in pain in his abdomin area, would not eat or drink and was throwing up. I took him to the vet yesterday. The vet said he was blocked, took his temp (99.2) and did a bun test which came back over 200. He told me that they could flush him out but he only had a 25% chance of his kidneys regaining usage. I opted to put him to sleep. Did I do the right thing?

Does anyone think that Mike Vick was unjustly and unfairly treated just because he's a celebrity and he's African American? Would the same happen to George Clooney if he was the one charged with those acts?

I have to take the cat to the vet and told dh I was going to have to rush home from work, get the cat, take her to the vet, rush home and rush back to work. He said that it's only going to be 57 degrees and she would be ok in the car, in the pet taxi for 4 hours. I feel uncomfortable with that. What do you think?

Allie was a really fuzzy little kitten. As she's grown, her hair is on the shorter side. It's really silky and soft and is longer on her back. I have seen pictures of cats whose hair didn't fully come in till they were 2-3 years old. This is her. She's older in the bottom pics. Long or short haired? What do you think she might be? http://www.catster.com/cats/626945

I got 2 pairs of pinkish fish that keep chasing each other all day.The shop keeper said they were some sort of tetras. They got black spots in places. They chase my fighters all day.My fighters keep hiding because of them. I got another pair fish today, they are called blue something,I cant recall. They are about 2cm,and have blue stripes.I think the shopkeeper once said they were some sort of chiclids, but when I said I couldn't buy them coz chiclids r aggressive, they called it blue something. Now I have them in a fish bowl with a pair of neon tetras since I dont which tank they shud go to.I need the names of these pink fish and the blue ones,so I can do some research on their compatibility with other fish.I cudnt get a decent shot since they keep on running around so much. But the following snapshot and the 4 pics that follow may b helpful:

I have female German Shephard 21 months old. She is very aggresive, it's very tough for me to go out for a walk. I even can't take her to market as she barks on every person who is very close to us....not only barks but attacks. She even pulls me a lot. I want her to walk with my pace. How can I teach these two stuff....1) Not to bark and behave in discipline so that she walks with me without belts and 2) Walks with my pace.

My Bichon is now 8 months old and I know is due to come into her first season. The vet said anytime after 6 months old so she's a little overdue. Are there any signs she could be showing to let me know that it's getting close?
