Does anyone think that Mike Vick was unjustly and unfairly treated just because he's a celebrity and he's African American? Would the same happen to George Clooney if he was the one charged with those acts?

The reason why i don't want PETA sympathizers to answer is coz i think they are the scum of the earth, double standard people. I know dog fighting is illegal and what he did is wrong, but you should also consider some people see this as a sport, just as cock fighting. I believe he should pay for what he did, but i think all this media coverage and PETA scum used this to their advantage. That's why i'm asking if he was being treated fairly.
ps. I have 2 black labs and 3 kittens so I love animals.

I for one think that whatever he did was against the law. He's gotta pay up coz of his stupid mistakes just like DMX. Also where i come from, dog fighting is not illegal, it's a sport so if this was done in some parts of Europe it would not be as serious. I mean there's a friggin war going on in Iraq and people are dying and all PETA can think of is neuter Michael Vick? I think PETA should be neutered. So i do agree with you 100%.

I don't think so at all. He was all over the tv because he is a sports star, a regular joe would have been on the local news but not ESPN or anything like that. But then again a regular joe isn't being paid millions of dollars to play football.
I hope and I pray that if George Clooney or Brad Pitt or whoever, did anything closely related to what Vick did they would be put through the same. And infact I know they would, because I would be out there picketting against them if they were guilty. I would not watch their movies ever again!
I don't understand why you think he was treated unfairly. HE and "his posse" treated those dogs UNFAIRLY. It was never a black or white issue. And Vick could only use that because that's all he had to try to save his own butt.
And go ahead and report me, anyone that treats dogs like that need to be prosecuted just like they did their dogs. It's disgusting.

Heavens NO he deserves to be given the same treatment he gave to the dogs he killed, abused, tortured. He was Barbaric to say the least. Caged, tied up animals were prodded in the bootys to become mean and fight. Would you like that done to you???? Most sickos start with animals before they move onto children .....then teenagers, then adults.... How could you even think for a second that he didn't get what he deserved? And yes if George Clooney got caught doing the same thing he'd pay the same. Just in case you haven't observed the Hollywood scene and the Law, then watch a little more news, checkout Spears, Lohan, Mel Gibson (slurs) and the rest of the moviestars in trouble with the law. They get caught and the law is the same for them too. Anyone thinking this is racial is nuts......I love my 2 dogs, 2 macaws, and I eat Meat regularly. Love a good ribeye on the barbie.

You have got to be kidding me. "Some people consider this a sport"???????? Yeah, right. Killing dogs in a brutal and gruesome manner is just a sport. Maybe to serial killers. I personally don't care who the person is who fights dogs. They should all be punished as severely as the laws allow.
I believe that Michael Vick was using his career as a shield for his illegal activities, which makes him even worse than your run-of-the-mill dog killer. He got a whole lot less than he deserved.
Wait! Maybe there could be a new sport for those who like dog fighting! Fighting dog owners being torn apart alive in a lion pit!
Or, wait, I could have sworn the human race had progressed past that kind of brutality.
We all need to stop with the Michael Vick thing and move on to prosecuting the next animal cruelty case.
And guess what! I am NOT a supporter of Peta. I just own a minpin who was used as pitt bull bait.

I personally think that it is because he is a celebrity (not because he is african american)and that they are trying to make an example of him. I have worked on a few dog fighting cases in South Carolina, that barely made the local headlines. Some were even given a slap on the wrist and their dogs back by the judge. In my experience, I haven't seen such a stong push to punish a dog fighter. However, I am very happy with how public this has become. People need to know. I don't think that he is be treated unfairly because they are using the fullest extent of the law. I just wish that all dog fighters were punished to the fullest.

Beating the race issue drum doesn't fly with me, he's an evil man and any punishment he gets isn't enough. The fact that he's a celebrity certainly means media attention, so what? There's nothing anyone could say that would persuade me he's being treated unfairly. If George Clooney was doing the same thing I'd hope he'd rot in hell too.

I don't think he was treated unfairly. It may have been more in the news because of his celebrity status, however, I don't feel his race had anything to do with it.
Police raid dog fights daily, however, if they even make the news, it is usually just the local news, and nothing on a national scale.
Any celebrity who is found doing anything illegal, regardless of what it is, usually find themselves making the headlines across the country simply because they are a celebrity.
While this may or may not be right, anyone who gets themselves into the limelight, be it through sports, entertainment, or any other venue that puts them in the public eye, should expect that what they do, be it good or bad, will be public information.

Chicken fighting is also illegal in the US and is considered animal cruelty.
I do not think it is unjust that Michael Vick got charged and with animal cruelty and he was not treated unjustly. I am sure that since he is a celebrity he was treated better than any run of the mill person who committed the same felony. I don't care who you are if you do the crime you should serve the typical punishment with no special treatment and no cutting corners!!

What do you consider a PETA sympathizer, anyone who doesn't agree with you?
If anything, I think it's great when people don't get away with stuff just because they are celebrities. He screwed up, and he needs to take responsiblity for that. It would be wrong if, by your example, George Clooney got different (as in better) treatment, but that still doesn't mean it's wrong for Vick to be held accountable for his actions, which are more than a hypothetical question.

I would certainly hope that George Clooney or the average white guy would be treated in the same way. I don't think he was unfairly treated at all, but that's just my opinion.
Abusing animals is not something to take lightly - and I don't think animals are better than people. People domesticated dogs, it is our duty to provide a good life for them. Does this mean I think dogs should roam free? No. I believe in responsible dog guardianship, which involves training, veterinary care, proper nutrition and exercise, and companionship. It doesn't mean I think that anyone who hits a dog should get the chair. If you ask me, education is the answer.
