ANY dog with fur is going to shed. The poodles and other allegedly "no-shed" dogs tend to get matted instead of leaving fur all over the place. So you'll have to pay for regular grooming appointments.

If you want a truly no-shed dog that is on the bigger side, you'll probably want a Xoloitzcuintli.

Standard Poodle, Standard or Giant Schnauzer, Bouvier, some Goldendoodles and Labradoodles as long as they are 75% Poodle. With all but the Poodle, you may see some fur but very minimal.

Some Mastiff breeds and Boxers shed but not too much for the most part.

I would recommend the American Pit Bull Terrier. Contrary to the media hype of the past ten years, and the images of gang-bangers on TV, the American Pit Bull Terrier is a wonderful family companion who was once known as the Nursemaid Dog for its popularity as a child's companion. Helen Keller owned one, as did Teddy Roosevelt and many other famous outdoorsmen! Today, Jessica Biel from 7th Heaven is a proud Pit Bull owner, and Vin Diesal keeps his shape by working out with his pit! The pit bull is a very intellegent, trainable short-haired dog who has been bred to be human submissive. The pit bull requires an owner who will value her as a family member, for they do not do well as backyard dogs chained outside all day. They need to be a part of their pack. They are very affectionate dogs who are very clean and tidy, but they do require an owner who is energetic and willing to walk them at least once a day, plus engage in activities like frisbee or hiking. The Pit Bull does not do too well as a guard dog, because they are generally friendly with all humans, but knowing that you have a pit bull might be enough to keep intruders away, due to the strength and loyalty of this breed. Early socialization with all types of people and other dogs is essential for any breed of dog. Pit Bulls are medium-sized dogs, females usually around 50-70 lbs and males slightly bigger. The recent, false belief that these dogs are vicious is an unfortunate consequence of the breed's courage and appearance, because criminals and gangsters have been drawn to Pit Bulls, and after MUCH abuse and neglect, their pits are trained to fight or guard their drugs. Then, when the poor dog is no longer useful, they either kill it or let it go, causing a public problem. I encourage anyone looking for a short-haired, medium-large dog who would be good and patient with kids to consider the American Pit Bull Terrier, and to do their own research on this breed (also one of the most decorated breeds of dog in the US military, as pit bulls have faithfully served in every battle up to WW2, pulling wounded soldiers from the front lines). I would trust my pits with my life and my children's lives, and I will never go without one at my side as long as I live! There is no more faithful, devoted friend than the American Pit Bull Terrier!

Standard poodle. Labradoodles shed - it's a myth that they don't. Dobermans and Danes shed tons of short little hairs everywhere.

1. get a good atlas of dog breeds /not a pocket crap/
2. get a bottle..or two of a good red wine /not the cheap stuff/
3. take an evening off and talk about it /face to face/
Asking such question here, won't help anyone.
Best of Luck!!!
