Today, I was driving past a small man-made lake and saw this big bird. It was brownish-black with a red skin head. It had a yellow hooked beak. It flew in the air and I could tell that it was a vulture. I know that vultures live mainly in dry climates...but what would make a vulture come to Illinois, where it's starting to get cold? Also, can it survive here in Illinois especially as it starts to become winter?

She was rejected at 10 days and is now 4 weeks 1 day. I've been bottle feeding her kitten formula and she was doing great other than slight recurring constipation, which we've learned to deal with. About 4 days ago she started to refuse to eat, even pureed food, and she went into the vet after a day of that, but he just said she'll probably die and wouldn't do anything for her! I'm making her eat a little every half hour or so, but she's only taking in about 2 ounes every 24 hours, and her poo is turning dark and pretty solid - not hard, but not like it should be at this age.... what do I do to save her? (And this is the only vet here, I live in rural Montana so I don't have an animal shelter that might be able to help, either!)

Alright...I have been reading around and this sounds weird. Some people advise to bathe your cat in dawn dish soap. This won't hurt the cat?? My cat has fleas and honestly I have tried way too many things and nothing has worked. I have tried Frontline, Advantage, Zodiac, and also some baths.

I know that they clean oily birds off with dawn, so I guess it won't kill them, but is this alright to do for my cat? Does it have to be dawn or can it be this Seventh Generation dish soap I have that is all natural?

I have a chinese box turtle in an aquarium with peatmoss, a lil container with water, and some fake plants to hide himself in. We noticed a lot of little tiny flies like gnats or aphids and went to go check the turtle and found TONNES of little white bugs crawling in and on his tank. None were on the turtle but they covered the aquarium. What are these bugs?? I put the entire tank outside and put the turtle in the sink making sure he is rinsed and clean. I checked the area where the tank was and made sure there were no more bugs, from what I can see they are all outside with the tank now. Does anyone know what those bugs are, why they sit in the turtle tank and how to permanently get rid of them?

Here they are. The little one is Dinky. He is a 9lb mini Schnauzer. Hes my baby.
The big one is Ellie. And yes she is cross-eyed. It gives her so much more personality. LOL She is a big girl at 120 lbs. I have never owned a Neapolitan Mastiff before, but my goodness, she is the most awesome dog I have ever owned. And it isnt because of her looks, she is Awesome with my kids, cats, and horses, and she is such a cuddle bug. When I pet her, she will grunt and wine. Its so cute.
I love them both!
Oh and the cat is my Mea.(Pron Mee-Uh). Shes my cat-dog. I swear she acts just like a dog. She and my dogs get along very well.

Enjoy!

We have recently found out that our cat has fleas. By the time we sought treatment it seems that they multiplied. We have a 9month old daughter, she loves to play on the floor, but we are starting to see flea bites on her. We have tried the drops for the cat, multiple times. We've also tried the carpet vacuuming stuff, that didn't work either. What can we do that WILL work?? And, what of those options are also safe for my daughter??

Having had a few knocks recently, in more ways than one, I'm looking for a solid sensible no problems horse.
I've seen one advertised that fits the bill, a weight carrier who was bought to give someone confidence, she's now progessed onto riding 'better' horses so her dad keeps getting the plodder, and he wants something more lively.

He is supposed to be 100% bombproof, with no hang ups. The only down side is that he was injured last year and lost the sight in one eye. Husband is refusing to go look at him, because he thinks we will be buying trouble.

Anyone had experience with horse who is blind in one eye, what do you think, should we go see or walk away?

A friend of mine brings her dog to my house and claims it is housebroken, I have dogs of my own and they are housebroken after she leaves I've scooped up the evidence that her dog isn't. How do I ask her not to bring her dog or to put it in the back yard with mine while she visits?

I hope someone can suggest an effective way to prevent my FAT CAT from sleeping on my $450 soft Jeep top. We've never prevented her from sleeping on top of our other vehicles, so this may be tricky. And for you comedians who will tell me to get a dog or a gun...HA! HA!, ok? You're very amusing. Serious responses only, please. Thanks.

I am afraid that if I give the mom a flea pill or topical treatment such as Frontline that it will get into the mom's milk and hurt the babies. I haven't treated the mom since I found out she was pregnant. I haven't seen any fleas on her, but the babies are 2 days old and I saw a flea on one of them today.

I am going to get a WD and I have a feeling that i will have to put the backround paper on 3 sides of the aquarium... true? Also, could an adult WD live in a 75 gallon aquarium? With lots of climbing stuff, water pits, and other assorted things? What should i use for substrate?

I brought a cat a few weeks home knowing she may be pregnant (I think someone just dumped her in my neighborhood because I had never seen her before)
Well sometime between last night and today she had her litter under a bed in the guest room. Well I kept checking on her and the last time I went in I heard a cry away from where she was with the others...and looked on the other side of the bed, there it was meowing and cold really cold with the cord and such (trying not to be gross)still attached & removed that with scissors, so I warmed baby kitty up and put it back with her, and Momma keeps pushing it away. It appears really healthy to survive that long away from her other than a paw that's turned inward like clubbed feet in humans. What should I do, I can not just sit here and let her let it die, it is really strong still. Should I remove it and feed it myself with formula from the store? Has anyone been through this? Any advice would be appreciated as I am desperate to help them!

I'm a bit tired of having bettas, though they are beautiful, they're such divas!

And NO goldfish. Little swimming poop machines.

I have a 1 gallon lighted aquarium with an airstone filter, and it stays around 73 degrees Fahrenheit. I would prefer something that just eats flakes or freeze dried worms. Any suggestions?

Oh, and being able to get multiple fish would be great!

She has always had this problem, she will eat and then alittle bit later puke it up.. sometimes it is like something is caught in her throat, others will be regergitation, rarely is it hairballs. She has been to the doctor and is fine. I have switched her food when it seems to be getting worse. It will go on for weeks at a time then stop for months.
