There are many types of tetras that can be kept in an aquarium. Most that are common in local fish stores have similar upkeep requirements and can be kept together. I can only think of serpae tetras that are slightly more nippy than other tetras. To reduce their tendency to be nippy you just need to keep a larger shoal of them.

Some are more delicate and require more attention to water conditions. But with regular water changes and good tank maintenance, most tetras can be mixed together.

For the most part, yes, but there are exceptions. Nippy Tetras like Serpae Tetras will go after other fishes' fins if they feel threatened or cramped. Exodon Tetras (6 inches) will eat almost all fish that can fit in their mouths, which include most average Tetras (less than 2 inches). All the peaceful Tetras like Neons, Cardinals, Black Skirts, Phantoms, Lemon, Bleeding Heart, Bloodfin, Silver Tipped, Rummynose, Head and Tail Light, and plenty of others can cohabitate perfectly if given ample space. Remember that Tetras are schooling fish, and if not kept in the proper sized school (5+ fish of the same species), they will be very stressed.

most tetras can be kept together, some of the nippy ones are only nippy if you dont have enough
stay away from exodon paradox and buenos aries tetras
exodon are really brave and will kill fish much larger then themselves (they dont really skoal well either) -they kill bigger fish by biting off their scales and eating away some of their slime coating, this allows infection to have its way with the larger and now helpless fish... they are cool though, their teeth are visible and they eat cut up silversides or live minnows
buenos aries are booring, they get some size too, but nothing much to talk about... bland color and whimpy out of a group... theyre just mean to over matched fish

sure but remember that all tetras are schooling fish which means they should be kept in small groups ( 3 and up) abd some of them are fin nippers dont house congo ,black phantom , splashing and other long finned species with serpea tetra as they are fin nippers as well as black skirt tetras and red eye tetra

Yes the can, but they still need to be at least 6 of each species, since they're schooling fish

Hope that helps
Good luck
