A friend of mine brings her dog to my house and claims it is housebroken, I have dogs of my own and they are housebroken after she leaves I've scooped up the evidence that her dog isn't. How do I ask her not to bring her dog or to put it in the back yard with mine while she visits?

I would not allow that right now, because I have a pet dove and he has the run of the place. I would not want him to get harmed by another animal.

When she brings the dog, tell her to put it in the yard so it can play with the other dogs. Tell her it's good for the dog to socialize with other dogs. If she doesn't want to do that, tell her that last time you found some "evidence" in your home after she left, so you'd rather the dog stay outside with the other dogs. If this annoys her, then next time when she calls, ask her if she'd mind not bringing the dog. If she minds, then she can stay home with her dog. ; )

No, it's not okay. People who go visiting with their dogs make me crazy, I think it's totally insensitive. I have two dogs and wouldn't dream of taking them anywhere unless they were invited. The next time your friend visits, don't even ask if it's okay, just put the dogs in the backyard. An old next door neighbor always used to say, love me, love my dog. Well, guess what, I couldn't stand him or his dog.

It is never ok for anyone to bring an animal to your house without your permission.
It doesnt matter if it is trained or a relatives pet, anyone who decides to bring an animal to your house should always ask first.
you should tell her to call ahead to let you know when she is bringing her dog over, and watch it in the backyard. If you see any signs of marking a spot to release waist, clap loudly or whistle. You should tell your friend and help her potty train her dog.
If you think she is unwilling to hear that.offer to go on a walk with her and her dog along with yours.
Carry treats so her dog will pay attention to you, then tell your dog to "sit",once watching your dog,it should copy, then give her dog a treat.
Unfair to hand out to treats to a another dog?Dont worry, your yard will thank you.
Best of luck

Just tell her that if she wants to bring her dog she needs to leave it in the backyard. If she is a true friend she will understand, if not than you learned what kind of a person she really is.

If you don't want to hurt her feelings, tell her that one of your dogs gets really nervous around other dogs and it stresses him out when she brings her dog.

I personally think its very rude not to ASK first.
My mother in law does this to us pretty often actually, and it really gets on my nerves.
He hikes his leg on stuff and she pretends that he doesnt....
I have 2 dogs and 6 cats, the cats REALLY hate him.
They actually attacked him once and she still brings him over, but he stays out of reach of the cats now. ;)

That would pi$$ me off, too ... maybe tell her that your dogs have a really nasty case of the runs, it's probably contagious, and maybe she should leave hers at home?
