I hope someone can suggest an effective way to prevent my FAT CAT from sleeping on my $450 soft Jeep top. We've never prevented her from sleeping on top of our other vehicles, so this may be tricky. And for you comedians who will tell me to get a dog or a gun...HA! HA!, ok? You're very amusing. Serious responses only, please. Thanks.

You could give this a try. Really cheap to put together. Get an empty spray bottle, put a little bit of vinegar in it, then fill it the rest with water. Spray on top of the convertable. Cats do not like the smell of vinegar. The water dilutes it so it is not so strong for people but unbearable for small cats, dogs, etc. If you give it a try, hope it works for you.

Ok, the cat is used to sleeping on the top of your vehicles. Don't try scaring the cat off as that will cause the claws to rip. Can you measure the top area? If so get a lightweight piece of plywood to cover the top so the cat will not flatten/stretch it and it can get it's claws into it to rip. It does not need to be too heavy to pop on top, just a thin piece.

You could buy a scat mat (available at most pet stores) and put it on top of the Jeep. But honestly, I've never found an effective way to keep cats off cars except to keep them inside and out of the garage.

Buy a blue tarp and cover the top with strips of double sided tape. You might want to do this for a couple of days, but the sticky tape feeling will turn kitty off and it will come to recognize the tarp as something it does not like.

LOL, too funny. Probably more funny to me than to you though... I like the vinegar solution someone else suggested. But if that doesn't work, there is a spray called "NO!" sold at Petsmart and Petco. If you do decide to buy it, check the label first to make sure it will not damage your material. Good luck.

Set booby traps like pie tins, shoes, etc. on the edge of the car top that will fall off when the cat jumps up there. If it persists, set mousetraps under several layers of newspaper so they will go off with a loud noise but not catch anything.
