Ther you go. Flea don't attack dog hair, but their bites, and the dog's scratching, often causes hair to fall out. If the dog is allergic to fleas, this can cause quite a nasty skin condition, making red inflamed skin and bald patches quite common.

A flea bite on a human is usually a very small red bump. As for the dog, if the fleas are bad enough then the hair will fall out. You should be using Frontline on your dog monthly and make sure you get your house treated for fleas because they will keep coming back unless you get rid of all of them.

Do not use any flea medication from the grocery store- Hartz/Zodiac flea treatment has been linked to hundreds of animal's deaths due to the harmful chemicals they use.
Either use Frontline or Advantage.

fleas on animals are easier to see than the actual bites.
The hair is affected when an animal scratches them- not by the actual flea. Medicated shampoos help...after a good flea shampoo. Treat the bedding and surrounding area as well. Good Luck!

If you treat the dog, but don't treat the home, you will just have the same problem over and over again.
you should be able to se the fleas on the dog. they are easy to id. You ahve to take care of it, or your dog can become seriously ill, even die if left untreated too long. He or she will lose a lot of blood and eventually become sick.
If you aren't sure how to treat, take your pet to a groomer or vet for flea treatment.
