Our 4-month-old neutered male kitten wants to eat all day long and stuffs himself and sometimes throws up. He's vicious about food like he's starving, yet we are feeding him a quality high protein diet of mostly canned food (not Friskies...)

He's been checked for worms and intestinal parasites.

male kittens are eating machines. I have 2 new boys amongst 5.
Nibbler and believe me he does not just Nibbler is 14 lbs at 8 months old his brother buuster is 8lbs he had flu and he is a good 6lbs behind his brother.
You look at your kitten it wants to eat. smile and your kitten wants to eat. Make a sandwitch and your kitten is in it eating his way out.
My vet tells me eating is a instinctive response of a kitten get fat especially if the kitten is seperated from it's mother to soon after a while they will settle to a normal feeding habit and become a normal weight

Check back with your VET -my kitten does the same thing and it turned out that he still had worms -even after being wormed by the vet.
Also he's not a vicious about eating anymore since the additional worming had cleared up all parasites -however, since i have 2 other cats -when there around he tends to eat it down faster and even begins to meow/growl while eating like in a panic.

My cat has recently started having the same problem. Instead of filling up your kitten's bowl, try limiting the amount of food he eats at a time (ie: only fill it halfway, or even a quarter of the way) and refill it about 15 minutes later. This way he has no choice but to limit the amount he can eat at a time.

Also, try switching over to dry food. Incorporate dry kibbles w/ your kitten's wet food, and then slowly switch over to the dry food. From my experience w/ cats, wet food can be more harsh on their digestive system. There are several varieties of dry food that are made for cats & kittens w/ sensitive systems.

Hope this helps!

just feed dry food i like purina kitten chow now wet food as kitten maybe for special occasion i like the wiskas new single pouch ones.

Feed in am a cup then in eve and see if that helps they also have things for sensitve system by purina to help digest better and hair ball remedies, IF the kitten stops loosing its food then you can increase food kittens do need more food but just dont leave a whole whopping pile out all the time just pour as needed

My vet says to give them pieces of carrots. Shredded finely in your case with the baby, its suppose to slow them down eating.

If you put a golf ball in his bowl he will have to eat slower and this should help him not puke.
