I don't have a dog yet (have two young children, so maybe, when they grow older I will buy one) but I want to extend all my appreciation to you because today, I saw a blind man guided by his dog. I observed, the dog knew every movement that he made, was or not a right movement for his owner. I was truly touched by this. Thanks to all the dogs, who faithfully stand "by mankind" with dissabilities of any kind!!!!!!!

dogs are the only ones who will ALWAYS be faithful and love you forever!they don't care if you're fat,thin,pretty,ugly,rich,poor....they love you!they would never betray you!i want to say blessed be all the dogs and their owners!!

adopt a stray animal, clo!!give one of those sad creatures a reason to smile again!

as for what bob is saying, not all pitbulls are vicious!!it's the owners who make them like that!so if he wants to blame sby, then he should blame the people who made the dogs like that!!
i help out in animal shelters and personally fed and pet all the dogs, pittbulls included!!and not once, did a pittbull show any viciousness!!
all dogs throughout history have proven how much they love people,it's a shame that we do not show them the love that they deserve!!

Do me a favor, Send this post to your local paper's editorial section. So often we dog owners get a bad wrap especially with the recalls and the Micheal Vick stuff. Its so great to hear a non dog owner enjoying a dog. I do recommend you get a dog but remember, years of training goes into service dogs. If you adopt a dog that behavior is not automatic! Lots of sessions of training and bonding go into a service dog and controller. But yes it is truly a wonderful sight.

See if you can become a puppy raiser for a service dog org. This will teach your kids wonderful life lessons. It can even be a 4h project!

There are so many very bad dog owners in this country but there is little we can do, the police and courts are the only ones who can. As a dog owner myself i find this difficult to accept but there is nothing we can do

Thats something amazing about dogs and other animals in general. No matter what the circumstances, whether you be blind, deaf, drooling, have had a body part removed, have no teeth, etc; dogs will always be there for you! Trying to help you and please you. I think you should read Willing Walkers- it is about how guide dogs got started and amazing stories of how they saved their owners life!!!
Thanks for saying thanks to all those dogs out there!

Actually, it's kind of the other way around for my family, since my dog is the blind one and we have to help him out and guide him to make sure he doesn't get hurt and run into things. =] But dogs are special, and we love them.

Dogs are the greatest animals! Many people don't realize it and don't treat them right. Sad.

But yes, you hear about dogs doing great things all over the world almost on a daily bases.

Dogs are the best. My cousin is confined to a wheelchair, his service dog makes it possible for him to live on his own.
