Some of the topical flea products made for dogs are ok to use on cats. Don't do it until you've discussed it with your vet. They will tell you if your specific brand is safe. You will also need a syringe because it won't be the same dosage for your cat. It may be cheaper just to go get some for the kitty. If you are going to open one for a small dog and only use part of the chemical on your cat... there will be leftover chemical. Please consult your vet.... you could very quickly send your cat into kidney failure if you use the wrong product on her. Good luck!

NO!!! The dog formula is different from the cat one and it can make your cat very sick.
You can use some over the counter stuff for fleas for your cat. And then you can make a flea trap for any other random fleas.
Flea trap:
You will need a big bowl of soapy water. Position this under a nightlight. the fleas will be attracted to the heat and will fall into the bowl. They won't be able to jump out because of the surface tension due to the soap. Leave it out until all your fleas are gone. make sure you have plenty of fresh clean water out for your pets so they don't drink the soapy stuff.

Never use Advantage for dogs on a cat. My mom's vet would not even give her advantage because she was feeding stray cats in the neighborhood. She finally went and bought it over the counter and as soon as she used it on her dogs, cats started being found all over her yard dead. The ingredients in both formulas may be the same (I haven't checked), but they are in different formulations.

No, dogs and cats are different. Yes, the fleas will jump onto the cat. Get cat flea medicine.

Do not use cat products on dogs and dog products on cats. Cats and dogs react to different things differently. Dog products are designed to specifically work on dogs while cat products are designed to specifically work on cats. If the dog is old enough, get some Frontline for dogs. Use it on him for three months. Use Frontline for cats for three months on your cats also. It takes three months to break the flea cycle according to our vet. What I would do is give your pets a bath in Pert Plus shampoo (a neat trick my vet taught me). That will start killing the adult fleas. Then after your pet is dried, apply the flea drops. Also, vacuum regularly. Good luck!

dogs and cats are very different and you dont want to do this with ANY OTHER flea medicing, but advantage cat and dog has the EXACT same ingrediants, just put very little on ure cat, the dose ure vet gave you is enough for a 55lb dog, so it would be way to much for a 10 lb cat

Its definetly an over dose if you give it to you cat but you can call you vet and explain to them that you have an advantage 55 and you wish to use it on your cat (you will need your cats weight) then they can calculate how much you can give to your cat (you will also have to go back to your vets to pick up a syringe) and have them show you how much to give (it would be EXAMPLE 0.3ml of the advantage 55) Just explain you want to split it with the cat .. we use to do it all the time .. you just need to be eductated properly so that you dont over dose the poor kitty. They will figure out the calculation for you.
Good luck
But remember do not put it on the cat until you have gotten the correct dose from the vet!

NO.
If you're lucky, it wouldn't overdose the cat. What's more likely is you'll just underdose her and it will be a waste of time. Don't risk either, just buy some Advantage for Cats!
Never ever, never ever ever use a dog product on a cat.
