My dog is an older Border Terrier mix.She doesnt know shes old though lol.
About a month ago,she started losing a small amount of hair from the inner parts of her front and back legs. There are small red scabs also..I looked it up and decided to try some anti fungal shampoo.
Along with that i used Calm Coat and Sulfodene.I also bathed her with flea and tick shampoo in case she had fleas.None of this has helped. It has spread to her body now.
Does anyone know of any medicines that have worked well for you?If it doesn't get better soon I'm going to take her to the vet but first i want to see if theres anything else out there.
Thanks sooo much!!

It could be fleas, although this is an unusual area to get hair loss. You haven't used any products that are going to kill fleas you see - store bought products do NOT work. You need a proper treatment from a vets, like Frontline. Stores aren't licensed to sell proper flea treatment, so don't waste your money on the stuff.

Can I just say, when your animal has a problem that you don't know what it is, a vets should be your first stop. There's just no point looking up stuff online and trying to self-diagnose, you don't know WHAT crap you're reading online. Also, proper treatments for anything aren't available in stores - pet stores are good for food, toys and accessories, but they do not sell medication, just junk that pretends to be medication. So make a vet appointment now if you actually want to find out what's going on!

Food allergy - food elimination trial
Atopy allergy -( allergic to things in environment ) May need antihistamine and steriod.
For both of the above try omega 3& 6 oil into diet.

Parasite such as scarpotic/demodex - skin scraping
Fungal infection - skin scraping
Secondary bacterial infection - antibiotics
Staph infection - antibiotics.

Could be more complicated though I doubt it such as cushings disease or hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid). Usually hair loss seen on back and tail with these diseases not on belly.

Could be autoimmune disease.

I'd take her to the vet now. She may have mange or some other kind of parasite causing her to lose her hair. Don't wait until it's out of control, go see the vet now.

You must first take her to the Vet where he can accurately diagnose what it is. Then, he/she will prescribe the correct medication and dosage.

Please quit experimenting on her with different 'cures'.
