I had to put my dog down (about 80 pounds) and I buried him in my back yard. He is in a thick plastic bag given to me by the Veterinarian and the "top" of the bag is about a foot under the surface. The ground is really soft there now and I keep pressing it down and adding more dirt. Should I consider re-burying him deeper? Or is this a common "side effect" of burying a passed pet? Any suggestions will help. Thanks

Sorry to hear about your dog. I know you are going through a hard time. I think it is great that you brought him home. A lot of people won't do that.
I would go down deeper, because the ground will get washed away with any hard rain. We bury our dogs about three feet down. Than I can always plant a small flowering scrub there.

We always go about two feet, and mound soil on top, then put stones on top.The ground will keep settling for a while,so you'll need to keep adding more dirt.If you've already buried the dog,I wouldn't dig it up again, but just mound the dirt up and add the stones or rocks.I'm sorry about your dog.
