now I am and have beautiful dogs that I got from great breeders and rescued one.

The dog i got died from lyphoma at only19 months.

The breeder moved and changed her phone number

and sold other puppies from the same litter, and they died

also very young from the same thing.

We are a "what I want, I need to get now" society. People just don't like to wait and research.

I too fell into the same "hurry up and get a pup" mode. :o/ A little research goes a loooooong way.

If I do not rescue a dog I always try to find good breeder. But with my Lab I wanted something very very specific. I wanted a yellow english type Lab, and I wanted a puppy. I htought it would be easy and fast BUT I was wrong. My brother who was dying and running out of time wanted to get me the dog and be part of it, but I could not find what I wanted and I went two states away. In the end I went with a puppy mill that was being closed down. I knew it would cost me a great deal to save the puppy but my brother convinced me I would be doing good and he would still be here to see it.
As for others I think most people are just uneducated and act like they are going out to buy clothing. They walk in a store see what they like and buy it without thinking or research. So many and too many people see dogs as an item a possession and not a living creature with feelings and needs. But that being the case they do not care what is actually behind it all it becomes a want and an instant one.

Some people Get puppy fever. I did. I wanted my Maltese badly after doing all that research on the breed and knew that's what I wanted. So I got a number from and friend and a week later got my pup. After a day with my dog I realized the dog was deaf. I still love my Maxwell and he is a great dog but the breeder was just as it turns out is a puppy farm that sales to retail stores. I just got my second pup and I knew the signs to look for and I got a beautiful pup.

For many people, I think they have never thought about finding a good breeder-- they assume that they can go to a petstore or answer an ad and purchase a nice healthy puppy. It's a shame that so many people breed their dogs with more concern for profit than for producing healthy dogs.

But then, why do people buy puppies and only after they get them home wonder what they will do about training, and worry about all of the things still left out that can be chewed?

We all are a want this and that before judging, for instance I love Pitbulls, I learned to look and inspect before buying, then just to grab and run, people with I want this and go for usaully end up with a Fake products or low quality in wich the long run, they arent happy, alot of people dont take the patience in making sure they are buying from a reputable breeder, whom in terms Knows what they are doing and has experience, anyone with enough common since can tell the difference from a good breeder and a bad breeder,

Being impatient is part of the human nature. I know I am not immune to it; I am VERY impatient and cannot stand it when the teacher refuses to tell me my grade until they decide to! Prospective dog owners want to get their new friend ASAP. I can understand that well.

It might also be that they really want to rescue a dog at the pound and end up rescuing the malnourished, diseased stray as soon as they enter because they feel so sorry for him and think he'll die first. In other ones, they want to save the ones who are going to be killed first. That's fine--if the dog meets your criteria! That may sound harsh, but it'll be no good if you can't care for the dog and end up putting him in the pound again.

I am sincerely sorry for your loss of the lyphoma dog. But I am also very thankful that you are now educated about breeders and know how to get a good dog from one!

People are impatient and ignorant. They want it now, so they go get one. They ignore the fact that good/reputable breeders plan their breedings. Sometimes they only have one litter in a year. Because of their impatience, that creates an opportunity for byb or puppy millers to mass produce puppies to flood the market.

Because backyard greeders are out to take money from the people who don't research before they buy a puppy.

All pups are cute... backyard greeders depend on this and the fact that they can breed poor quality dogs without health clearances and then sell the pups for less than a responsible breeder.... its GREED all the way around ... buyer doesn't research, wants to pay less... and the backyard greeder fills the nitch and fills their pockets!!!

Well,I'm sorry about your dog,but I don't believe that lymphoma is the result of bad breeding. It can occur in any dog.

SayWhat?: Well, excuuuuuse me! I don't know why people are in a hurry to get a dog, because the dogs aren't going anywhere. There are plenty of them to choose from,so a person should take their time, especially when thay are purchasing a purebred.Get vet references, copies of pedigrees and genetic tests, and see the parents of the pups so you can see how they act and look. Some people are in a hurry because puppies are cute,I guess. There are also those who simply "must have" the latest popular breed, and then get tired of it after a few months and take it to a shelter. For instance, right now you can go to petfinder and find puggles and Labradoodles in nearly every shelter.People wanted them right away, but then the novelty wore off,and the dogs were abandoned. It's the same with a lot of large breeds,GSDs,Rotts,Labs, and Dobes to name a few.

TO TAMMY C you did not answer the question.

I know many people that have gotten dogs from

puppy mill breeders, and BAD BREEDING is BAD BREEDING and to have multiple PUPPIES DIE from lypmphoma from the same litter.............is from bad breeding.
NO PUPPY should die from LYmphoma so young......

OK to answer your question

because people have puppy fever, and want it now.

It is worth it to wait, and having conversations with you

via email, U learned the hard way, and waited for your

dog, and interviewed over 30 breeders.

thank you
