Perhaps the flea collars are bothering her skin. There is no need for them. There are excellent products available through your vet for flea control that are not as outdated as the "flea collar".
She may have ear mites or an ear infection. See your vet, as the treatments are different and it makes no sense to self diagnose.

Well, flea collars won't work. Anything from a pet store actually will not work, because stores aren't licensed to sell the drugs that work. Don't bother getting treatment from them anymore!!

Go in to a vets for some proper treatment. It's very likely your cat has fleas. Run a flea comb through her, or a regular comb if you don't have one - look at the fur on the comb. Part your cat's hair and search through it, particularly at the neck and belly areas, and armpits. Are you seeing little black specks/flakes? These are flea dirts, and show that your cat has fleas. Get some Frontline - or Revolution, it treats ear mites too if you're worried about that. You will most probably need to spray your house too, because this is where most of the fleas are living and breeding. Again, don't use store-bought products!

If you're still having problems after proper flea treatment, or the cat develops other issues, take her to a vet to be properly looked at.

Is she missing any fur from the area? If so, she may have ringworm (which is a fungus that forms in the shape of a circle). It can be treated quite easily w/ a topical cream or spray prescribed by your vet.

If that's not the case, she might just have a skin allergy. Some cats are actually allergic to fleas, and their skin starts scabbing in any areas that fleas have come in contact w/. Advantage works well to get rid of fleas.

First of all dont mix flea collars and sprays and all that other stuff...first make sure she doesnt have a rash and go to the vet and for around $10-$12 you can get a package of drops I believe its called Revolution that will take care of fleas, worms and earmites all at once and your cat will be healthy...DO NOT BUY HARTZ PRODUCTS!!! THEY ARE PURE POISION!!! and if you put one thing on you cant put another product that is consider OVERDOSING your cat will go into seizures....

The most important thing is to get her to vet ASAP.Blue-eyed white cats are prone to congenital deafness caused by a malformation of the organ of Corti. If your cat is not white then it could be an irritation of the ear canal caused by polyps. Is there a discharge? This can be cultured to find out which bacteria or fungi is responsible.
The herbal remedy to kill ear mites is very successful- Yellow dock (Rumex crispus)2 drops every third day for 3 to 6 weeks.
The best advice though is to see the vet.

Good luck

My daughter's cat did this for months. All the same symptoms and all the same tried remedies! It turned out to be a fungal infection (commonly know as ring worm, which is not really a worm at all) My daughter had to apply an ointment for several weeks, but eventually it did go away. Your vet will probably do a skin scraping test to determine what is causing her itching.

If you think it might have fleas, get a flea comb and see. Don't mess with flea collars; they don't work. If you see fleas, try Frontline; it worked like magic for my 5.

Definitely take your cat to the vet. My cat did the same thing and she was allergic to her food!
