Okay, so like last Saturday I got 2 8 weeks old kittens from the humane society. One is male, the other female. We have a 9 year old cat and another 1-1 1/2 year old cat.
we are introducing the female first (She`s spayed) and we let her down, and she started running, and my 1 year old cat started chasing her.
My question: How am I to know if he`s going to hurt her or not? Also, how am I supposed to know if he just is curious and wants to see her closer? anything is much appreciated.
Thanx

Just stay close, if the one year old starts being too rough, take the kittens away. Also, did you take them to a vet first, they could be carrying viruses picked up in the kennel. I would introduce one kitten at a time to one older cat at a time, so that neither feels ganged up on. Like I said, stay close and be ready to remove the kitten. Good Luck!

put the kittens in a kennel and let the other cats smell at them and look at them through the bars.
i did this with my new kitten. after two or three days of putting her in the kennel (for a little while. the rest of the time she was in a separate room) i took her out of the kennel and supervised their first contact meeting.
if you notice one of your cats is being overly aggressive (biting or scratching) then separate them again.
the best idea is to just take it slow. you will know if things are getting out of hand. trust your instincts.
and thank you for adopting from the society. there are so many cats and kittens in there that need homes.
good luck with your new additions.

yes the female can be spayed at eight weeks. mine was eight weeks as well. i got her at nine weeks and you could still see her incision.

Playing is when the cats tussle with each other. Sometimes they pounce on another or chase through rooms. Fighting is when one cat seems to be stressed out; they hiss and scratch in defense. Sometimes a cat won't come out of a place because the other cats are around.

It's hard to tell. Regardless, if the new cat seems afraid (or stressed out) of the other cat you might want to slow down your introduction process. There is a lot of great information on the internet on how to properly introduce new cats to existing cats.

Hon, cats know when they've crossed the line between playing and fighting. Your older kitty will undoubtedly hiss, spit, and may try to scratch your one-year-old if she had enough.
At that point, you'll want to step in. If there's no hissing, growling, etc. between the two, then it's just play, and no intervention on your part is necessary :)

Well when there playing they will ponce and jump around. They are having fun like chasing each other. If they are fighting they would be hissing and look at there claws if there claws are out you can tell there fighting. they will get mad at each other one got more attention or one is more stressed. most of the time there playing but you never know.

The female 8 wk old kitten can't be spayed, she's way too young!
As for whether he wants to fight her, is he hissing or growling? If not things should be ok, and he's probably just curious.

Fighting involves a lot of screeching and there's fur on the floor. Anything else is just a tiff or is play.

They'll be spitting and hissing if they arent playing. Watch the male because he might spray if he gets scared.
